This. Parents need to just quit giving kids options and crap like that. Make them do it and they won't grow up to be SJW's, hopefully.

Ahh well that's a whole other problem. In that case, you have to find a decent way.

I literally hold my 1.5 year old down on his back, squeeze his cheeks until his mouth opens a little, dump the whole dropper in and blow in his face. His natural reaction is to swallow. He gets pissed but it is over in 5 seconds and everyone goes about their business.

It is not hard if you take control of the situation. The kid might be pissed but too bad.

Thank you. I was coming to find this reply.

Then when they are older >=5 and can understand punishment, take all their shite and they go to their room till they come take the fricking medicine.

Some great suggestions in here, but if you have a really difficult little one you can try this:

Get one of those little plastic syringes and a sippy cup with good flow. Mix the medicine and some milk in the sippy cup. Then take the syringe and use it to squirt a very small amount of sriracha into your child's mouth. When her eyes go big and she starts screaming say in an excited voice "Drink the milk! Drink the milk!" and offer her the sippy cup. She will down it all no problem.

Good luck!

One time my little girl didn't want to get her little thumb pricked to get a blood test. I had the nurse prick my thumb to show it didn't hurt.

It worked.

We used a syringe. Just squirt it in there. Worked great. Now, I just give her the syringe for her morning allergy medicine and she does it herself.

That's a problem. All the suggestions don't cure that issue. Have you called the doc to advise that nothing you've tried is working and ask for alternatives like a shot as someone suggested?

My nephew has known what money is since he was 2 and got a little bank to put the money in. We also let him "pay" with his money to buy a toy sometimes. I gave him some money for Halloween and he got to spend that and was very excited about getting it, though I don't know that money is going going solve your issue anyway.

IIRC yours is about the same age as mine, just over 2?
We just put it with his apple juice and he drinks it over the course of about 30 mins.
He can tell sometimes and will tell me he doesn't want it because it has medicine in it, I say I'll make you another one without medicine, just add more apple until you cant taste it.
We've tried everything to get him to take meds when he is sick, hiding it worked the best for us, good luck.

ETA: The only other thing that kind of worked was we told him if he didn't take the meds he would have to go back to the Dr and get another shot, we had just went the day before so it was still fresh in his mind. That only worked for a day or so though.

This is the correct answer when all else fails. And, its what I had to do with my kids.

Many years ago I called on a doctor in a remote, rural area. It was so isolated he dispensed medicine. No drug store within 30 miles. I was selling a unit dose antibiotic that had a cherry flavor and was well accepted by kids when mixed with cherry kool ade.

The doctor asked the cost and I told him. It was about 3 times the cost of the non unit dose. He looked at me and said when these folks shell out money for medicine their kids take it all. If the kid balks, they beat hell out of him until he does take it. Again, that was a long time ago.
