A documentary Crumb (1994)
Perverted dude and a weird bunch of people. A movie most hetero-sexual males should enjoy, unless they've allowed their own perversions to run their lives.
Crumb - Trailer
I think you can watch it on Crackle.
quote:
This movie chronicles the life and times of R. Crumb. Robert Crumb is the cartoonist/artist who drew Keep On Truckin', Fritz the Cat, and played a major pioneering role in the genesis of underground comix. Through interviews with his mother, two brothers, wife, and ex-girlfriends, as well as selections from his vast quantity of graphic art, we are treated to a darkly comic ride through one man's subconscious mind. As stream-of-consciousness images incessantly flow forth from the tip of his pen, biting social satire is revealed, often along with a disturbing and haunting vision of Crumb's own betes noires and inadequacies. As his acid-trip induced images flicker across our own retinas, we gain a little insight into this complex and highly creative individual.

One more - Cheap Thrills is pretty fun and fricked up.
Cheap Thrills follows Craig (Pat Healy, Compliance), a struggling family man who loses his low-wage job and is threatened with eviction. In an effort to delay facing the music at home, he heads to a local bar and encounters an old friend (Ethan Embry, Empire Records). The two friends are roped into a round of drinks by a charismatic and obscenely wealthy stranger (David Koechner, Anchorman 2) along with his mysterious wife (Sara Paxton, The Inkeepers). The couple engages the two friends in a series of innocent dares in exchange for money over the course of the evening, with each challenge upping the ante in both reward and boundaries. It seems like easy and much needed money, but the couple's twisted sense of humor pushes just how far Craig and his friend are willing to go for money and cheap thrills.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was pretty fricking weird. Pretty fricking great too.

that movie sounds similar to the brass teapot, which was very low-risk and bland compared to what it could have been

Very weird movies being listed, but I have to throw out "Salo". That is just a fricked up movie from top to bottom.

big difference in "fricked up" and weird
or you can have both, like visitor Q

Blue velvet
By far the two weirdest movies I've watched

Some of the weirder movies I've seen have already been mentioned in the thread.
Weird is relative to the viewer (at least, without a precise definition) -- one that I thought was weird when I saw it was Magnolia (1999), but I haven't seen it in years, so I'm sure it would seem somewhat different to me now. I remember it being pretty weird, though.

A Clockwork Orange
Enter The Void
Clockwork is one of my favorite movies though. Every shot to me is just a masterpiece. Kubrick has that effect

Eraserhead wins for me.
I made it about 10 minutes into Enter the Void and shut it off. Could tell it wasn't for me.
eXistenZ probably deserves a mention, though it can't compare to the typical Lynch film.
John Dies at the End was a fair nomination. Bubba Hotep fits the bill as well. Weird without being terribly confusing.
Moon and Cheap Thrills were both great, but I don't think either was weird.

Eraserhead...very little room for argument on this one
Has anyone ever seen Tideland by Terry Gilliam?

Donnie Darko.
It was the first indie movie that I had ever seen.
I used to only watch a set of 5 blockbuster movies and go to new releases in the theater.
Because of Donnie Darko I had to see every film for that type of new experience.
It might not be the weirdest movie to many people, but it was to me at the time.
I sat staring at the screen for 30 mins after credits rolled...and it started a fascination with film.

First movie that came to mind

Most weird movies are pretty bad. This one, however, was bizarre and brilliant:

quote:I have only seen MD, BV and Dune. I thought MD was a lot higher on the weird scale than BV.
There you go - but that is only a middling weird Lynch movie.
I would rate the Lynch - in decreasing order of weirdness:
Eraserhead
Blue Velvet
Lost Highway
Mulholland Drive
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
Dune
Elephant Man
(Last two pretty close, and not his original material)

Magnolia (1999)
PTA so badly wants to be Lynch, at least making this film he did.
And I liked it. It feels like Lost Highway, in a lot of ways.
