Adrian Peterson: I was good enough to play in the NFL at age 18

According to Peterson, this -- his ninth season in the NFL -- could have been his 12th, if he'd had his way.
Amid recent whispers about LSU sophomore running back Leonard Fournette's Heisman season, ineligible draft status and comparisons to Peterson, the Vikings running back suggested that Fournette should be able to enter the draft as a sophomore, because, well, Peterson could have done it as a senior in high school.
"Not to sound cocky or anything, or confident," Peterson told the media Monday, "but yeah, I do feel like I could have came out my senior year of high school and played in the NFL.
"People were like 'well, physically you just weren't ready.' I came in my freshman year and I was up for the Heisman, had a pretty good season, was the leading rusher."

True, but he's in the like 1% of high school recruits who could actually do it.

He's right. I remember watching one of his games his senior year and he was so much bigger than everybody else. They just turned around and handed it to him up the middle most plays and he got at least 7 or 8 each time.

I'm talking more about like Rivals top 300 guys not just everyone who played high school football.

He said recruits, not players.
But still, 1% is high. It would only work at certain positions like RB or corner, Maybe receiver.

All recruits are players, all players are recruits. There's no distinction there.

You can't change the rules because 1 player every 10 years is able to go high school to nfl. It is so rare that a player is that physically ready coming of high school.

We shouldn't artificially limit a persons earning power. If a players thinks he's ready and so does an NFL team, he should be allowed to enter. Forcing kids into the college system is wrong for education and the player.

when 2 parties have a collecting bargaining agreement, we should respect that and not try to force them to change, right?

He was and so was Eric Dickerson.

Some people truly love college and want to represent their state. Leonard fournette is one of them

Perhaps, but he also isn't allowed to play in the NFL and so we have made college football a de facto farm system

He'd be dumb not too. I doubt his value could go higher.

Probably true. He's a freak

I think it would be impossible to allow some players to forgo three years and keep others on that timeline. Who makes that decision?
