OLB
1. SR. Duke Riley
1. FR. Michael Divinity
2. JR. Donnie Alexander
2. FR. Rahssan Thornton
MLB
1. SR. Kendell Beckwith
2. FR. Rahshaun Smith
3. FR. Erick Fowler
Bump up Smith to #1 MLB if Beckwith leaves

What no love for Greedy? Looks to be really natural and fluid in press coverage, something the greats at LSU excelled in early on reminds me of Tharold Simon with more physicality and better awareness

the projections so far involve 2 guys that got destroyed by EMU, a guy that got more playing time at FB than MLB, and 2 freshmen.
Chavis was a disaster in LB recruiting - I mean, I give him an F (ETA: Lest we forget, Beckwith came in as a DE and Chavis has to be cajoled to move him to LB).

if we land gary, there is no way he is a backup. number 1 player in the country and in my honest opinion, a better prospect than nkemdiche was. he will start somewhere along the d line day 1.

I read that he is now a permanent fullback.

Dwayne Thomas will be back and will start. Saivion smith will be playing a lot in the nickel. We will start atleast 1 freshman at LB

Beckwith has been really good but hes no first round pick. Honestly he's pretty slow for an NFL type MLB these days. Seems like he's a high 4.6 low 4.7 guy. Problem is he's projected as the #2 ILB for 2016 so he can't improve his stock much so coming back isn't likely.

He's fast for 6'2 250. If he runs a 4.6 he will be atleast a second round pick for sure

I think Alexander, Riley, Voorhies will be the starters with Riley in the middle.
Not if we get the guys we're trying to recruit in here. Steele can coach linebackers to play straight out of high school. Divinity will likely be starting at one spot. He's been compared to Kwon Alexander.

Right now, I wouldn't be shocked if he came back.
If he leaves, Fowler could become a good Mike.

Not in the NFL where they got guys running 4.4 and 4.5 at that size.

I expect freshmen lbs to play and eventually start. I would not put Divinity down as one of those guys his first year. It's rare to find guys ready to contribute in that way so soon. I like Divinity's instincts though. I mean, Beckwith didn't crack the lineup for a year and a half. I think it's unreasonable that so many people are predicting 1 or 2 freshmen starters at lb. Riley and Alexander will be in the lineup a ton. A freshman can emerge a few games in.

bullshite. No LB in last two years combines has run sub 4.5, and the VAST majority are in 4.6-4.7 range. Do some research before you post.

Yeah, and Kevin Minter ran a 4.7 and is not as big as Beckwith and is starting for Arizona.
Have you even watched Beckwith play? The dude is a savage going sideline to sideline. He also runs people down. The dude is fast. He could improve on pass coverage, but he holds his own.
If we go to the playoffs, Beckwith is gone in the first round.

There are only a handful of LBs that are able to run that low.
Ray Lewis was a 4.55-4.6 guy.
Navorro Bowman ran a 4.7.
Jonathan Vilma ran a 4.65.
I could go on. Not every ILB in the league is Patrick Willis.

I know it's kind of off topic, but I've seen several people express the sentiment that "next year is our year" if we don't win it all this year. I'm not trying to be a pessimist but I just don't see it. The offense is going to take a big step back after losing Alexander, Hawkins, and Pocic. The linebackers are going to be a big weakness.
Keeping Beckwith is a pipe dream.
Run Defense and Run offense are what make us so good this year, so unless we completely revamp the philosophy next year, it'll be re-load mode.
The D-Line (especially regarding depth) and secondary (possibly) could be improved.
The skill players should be improved if only for the extra year of experience, but I expect to see a fairly sizeable decline in overall offense.

Maybe one of the 5 FBs can transition into a LBer

Pocic isn't going anywhere.
