If anything, they let more stuff slide than ever before. Grades are inflated. Half of essays are downloaded off the internet and touched up. Another 10% are recycled from old frat/sorority members. Kids program answers and equations into their phones. STEM kids "share" work. Etc.
Honestly, what else would you like college to let "slide"?

One of my favorite professors nailed me for an honor code violation because I let another student look at a segment of an instructional design report I had written so he could get a better idea of what the requirements were. The class was fairly collaborative in nature, and this was not the first time her students had reviewed each other's work. The problem was that the other student lifted sentences directly from my paper, and she initially gave us both an F on the assignment.
I was not happy about that at all. After the three of us met in her office, she deducted points from the other student's paper and restored my grade, but I lost a lot of respect her her.

If I were you I would make a doctor's appointment and get them to prescribe me some adderall and get a diagnosis of ADD. That should solve you timing issue with exams, and would explain why you needed the extra time when turning in the first exam. Just because your problem was undiagnosed at the time of the first exam doesn't mean that it didn't exist. They wouldn't want to discriminate against someone with a disability would they?

So because other students cheat, you should also? You sound pissed that you were caught and others weren't. Good luck explaining that to those that have power over your grade. They are giving you an out, which they don't have to. You should probably take the extra course.

One of my biggest fears when working on group or collaborative projects. I've met too many lazy assholes who will just straight up steal or plagiarize info. You really can't trust anyone when it comes to this stuff. The last thing I want is to put my name on anything and find out the hard way a group member plagiarized others work. I'm actually working on a project now that another member of the group and I have decided to work on separately from our group. We don't trust where they are getting info and question how seriously they are actually taking the project.

A good idea would be to check your work BEFORE you start walking up.

If the faculty member does not think its a big deal, just go with that. That is not an academic integrity issue, not sure why a TA would take it that far...

The professor is the one who sent the OP to meet with the integrity people.
And the TA obviously thought that the OP was looking at other people's work while he was walking up to turn it in.

Be honest but warry. Don't let them trick you into admitting g to something you didn't do.
The TA will probably exaggerate what he caught you doing to justify the charge but stick to your story(the truth) and you shouldn't get anything more than a finger wag.

Academic accommodations are usually not established until the student meets with the office of disability services and sets up their accommodation letter with the office. The student will have to provide documentation of disability. Then the student has to provide a letter with the accommodations to the professor. Once the professor signs and returns the letter to the office of disability services, the accommodations become official going forward. Academic accommodations are non-retroactive.
