I'll bet you could walk through a Mormon community at any time, day or night, and feel safe.
I have had some dealings (horses) with the Amish and they are also wonderfully nice people. They are truly the salt of the earth, and are quite shrewd in business dealings. The barns are fantastic too.

This is the LDS church seeing the writing on the wall in central FL. If they don't take part in the development themselves government on both sides of them will do it for them. It sucks but there's too many people moving into that area of the state and Deseret is in too prime a location to be left alone.
As far as them forcing employees to convert that's pretty ridiculous. Several of the guys I went to school with have worked at the FL ranch at one time or another and aren't members of the church. I do think there is a ceiling you would hit as far as advancement if you aren't a member but they couldn't care less if their cowboys are members or not.

Mormons are certainly an interesting bunch, but they are good businesspeople. The BYU Business School is top notch.
Salt Lake City is also the cleanest major city in the world. You can eat off the streets. But you don't have to, because some nice Mormon family will invite you into their home and cook you a three course dinner.

I live in mormonland. Mormons are awesome neighbors and members of the community. I have absolutely no beef with mormons..even if I don't agree with their religious views.

Mormons are unbelievably great people, there is no denying that.
My question is, if their founder, Joseph Smith, and Brigham Young both practiced polygamy openly and endorsed it how did the church ban the practice? I mean if they think it's wrong how they can be so devout in following a person who participated in it?

I have dealt with many likeable and normal Mormons. As with any religion, it is the radical branches of the church that get the attention.
It is the radicals who are practicing polygamy, marrying young teens, controlling people, seizing their assets and leaving them with no money.
Their leader Warren Jeffs is in jail, serving a life term for his crimes including having sex with minor, "marrying" them, getting them pregnant and many other crimes.
Since he is in jail, he has proclaimed that no-one can have sex. Husband cnnot have sex with their wives. The only men who can have sex are the "seedbearers". They get to sleep with all of the women and a man is supposed to be there to "hold her hand while she gets raped by these sickos. LINK
I just don't understand how anyone can be that brainwashed.
