I mean I'll take it if no one else wants it. I don't necessarily need it though.

I am posting from my fire 7. Got one when they were 35 bucks. For 35 or 50 bucks I love it. Make sure to buy an SD card..not much storage. But it runs most games fairly well and is great for wasting time on. Keep it in perspective for what it is..a cheap device to kill time on. Facebook, Netflix, web browsing.

So this is confirmed good for kids? In what ways, from a lock down and usability perspective for toddlers?

It may be good for kids, but after using my $35 special for 4 days, it's not worth the $35 for an adult. The Amazon browser is terrible and I haven't found an alternative and the screen resolution is poor. I like the $50 dell venue I picked up used on eBay much more than this thing.

everything except the screen resolution gets improved by putting the different software (Cyanogen Mod 12.1) on the tablet

You could root, install google apps, use your own launcher, and get rid of the lockscreen ads: LINK

Won't solve the resolution problem, but would at least help you assess it as an Android tablet using your preferred apps.

So you bought a $35 tablet and you are upset that it performs like a $35 tablet.

Yeah that makes sense.

your link is for the wrong Fire tablet.

BTW, don't update your Fire tablet to 5.1.1 if you want to be able to use fastboot and debloat or run custom roms.

Exactly. People overthink this thing. If you want a tablet to do the simple stuff that the vast majority of us do it is great. Don't expect the world of it. I love mine so far. I have it by the couch and bring it to the bathroom. Serves it's purpose very well.

got 2 for $35. One for the wife and one for my mom. Just to check facebook, and browse the net on. Nothing more, if it does that for $35 AWESOME!

No, I said it's not even worth the $35. My expectations were low (just wanted a cheap browser to sit on the coffee table) and still were not met.

I know when I got mine several years ago I downloaded Opera from the app store, but I don't really use it for web browsing, strictly games and movies. Here's an article on how to get FireFox and a few other alternative browsers installed on it LINK

My nexus 7 is still one of the best pieces of tech I've ever bought. Use it every day.

Got one of these coming in for the kid so she stops stealing my nexus.
