Keto diet?
My buddy is on one now and has lost a ton of weight. However he has been very diligent and does not take a cheat day and I commend him for that. No matter how much we pressure him to come out and have a drink or some food with us.

some people just have that genetic makeup where they can eat whatever the hell they want and still not gain anything.
that's got nothing to do with genetics. the amount of calories pro athletes burn is insane.

I disagree. Training has a bigger influence on your body composition than diet. I'm not diminishing the importance of a proper diet but hard training can make up for a lot of diet missteps.

My experience was that diet was more important than exercise in weight loss. I completely changed the way I ate. I put off breakfast until late morning and had a late lunch. I rarely eat anything after my late lunch now. To help fight hunger pangs, I drink coffee or water. Go to bed early.

Some foods that people on here recommended that I found helpful: Mission Low Carb tortillas and Soy Delicious no sugar added ice milk(?). I also add flaxseed meal to my breakfast. Get all the bad food out of the house to help fight temptation.

It might not work for everyone but it worked for me.

tell me what foods I should definitely cut out. Fried foods? Sugar?

Why eliminate something you like? There's no sense in depriving yourself, because that just sets you up for failure. You have to have the mindset that this is a lifestyle change, not a diet. Enjoy the foods you love, just eat them less frequently and practice portion control. Instead of getting a 5 pc meal at Popeyes, go for the 3 pc and pick green beans or mashed potatoes as a side instead of fries. Everything in moderation is fine.

Buy a fitbit. I see most fat people that are trying to loose weight have them.

Google Dr Jim Stoppani

Download "Shortcut to Size"

Follow his diet (very realistic) and do the workouts to the best of your ability (increasing intensity as you build endurance)

You'll never be the same!

Diet is very important! Plan your meals ahead of time and this will help you to avoid sugary and other bad foods. Eat breakfast and drink water!
Building muscle will help boost your metabolism so do more than just cardio.
