Every freaking pass except 2 were over 20 yards. Our passing scheme is just terrible

I just don't like seeing him take the deep ball in good coverage when guys are WIDE open all over the field.

There were a lot of pass interferences that could have been long gains but we got the penalty instead. The E. Michigan coaches probably told the DBs to interfere instead of letting LSU score a TD. Unfortunately the positive gains from those penalties don't show up in Harris' stats.
The pass over the middle to the TE was a thing of beauty. I honestly think LSU could do that all day if needed and the coaches know it.
LF#7 was wide open on the wheel route when the fade was thrown incomplete to MD#15 in the end zone. I hope that play is noticed by Harris in the future.
We tried to throw the ball a lot in the first half. I was glad to see that. The execution needs to improve but I have confidence in our passing game come crunch time. No doubt this team will ride the talents of LF#7 and if any of us were head coach we would do the same. He needs to get the ball 25+ times per game.

A lot more good passes than not so good. However the one pass to Johnson... on the money but was it too hard? Or need to be caught no excuse

The screen to Fournette, the shovel pass to Guice, the slant to Johnson, the fade to Dupre in the end zone, the throw to Dupre in the back of the end zone, the out or hitch to Dural that was thrown off his hand. That's at least 6 passes under 20 yards. Do people just make things up?

you're doing God's work my man

half of those passes were either short, late, or just bad passes. 3 or 4 should have been completed.

I understand the long pass in order to keep the defense from creeping up on the run. But when you are 4 of 15 against EMU with man coverage, do you really think SEC defenses are going to respect the pass?

Three pass interference penalties on deep balls that don't show up as positives on the individual stat sheet, but those did result in 45 yards and 3 first downs, and they could have been huge plays, possibly TDs, if not for the interference.
I wouldn't count a pass that gets tipped/deflected as a drop.

I agree. I was at the game and haven't watched the replay yet, but Dural should have caught the ball thrown on the deep post in the end zone. That was a beautiful throw. Dupre also made a piss poor play on the fade in the end zone. Instead of stopping and high pointing the ball, he kept running and allowed the DB to make a play on the ball. I also thought Dupre could have caught the ball in the back of the end zone. Dural gave a pretty shitty effort on the hitch thrown to the sideline. The worst throw in that video was the under thrown deep ball to Diarse. With Beckham and Landry Harris has 200+ yards and at least 2 TDs on Saturday. The dropoff at the WR position is just as big, if not bigger than the dropoff at QB since the 2013 season.
Dural endzone pass was late and pretty well contended. It could have been caught though.
I think on both Dupre plays in the endzone he did not show great control. I think he lost his balance on the fade and he didn't sit in the zone...both throws by Harris were where they needed to be.
Best throw of the night was to Jeter. Any of the deep balls (aka our staple in the passing game) could have gone better. If you consider the fact that one of the completions was to Guice on the jet sweep, you realize Harris was 3-14 without that. All of the other 3 completions went for 20+ yards. Honestly, throwing 20+ yard passes is not a high percentage for anyone. It's designed to hurt a team commuting 8 guys in the box. We haven't hurt a lot of teams with it yet. Harris' deep ball has not been good enough to warrant running this scheme. I don't believe it's all on him, but that is the go to pass in the scheme and we have hit it once to a contested, interfered with Dural against Syracuse. I would call Harris 1 for 7 on those deep vertical routes, but drew 3 PIs and I counted the int since those were the routes they were running. That still only makes him 3 for 8 on other throws. As noted by the World, wrs could have played better to help Harris and we should be talking about 6 or 7 for 15. My major problem is still the scheme and our inability to execute the staple/purpose, which is the isolated go or post routes.

EMU used the Hack a Shaq strategy.
if #1 was just a little more disciplined he would have had a helluva game, good corner

That's pretty hard to watch.

Based on the hype of these receivers and what we know they can do, I saw four balls that should have resulted in TDs.
1. Dupre fade left side, his bread and butter is catching that ball at the high point. Perfectly placed.
2. Dural deep post right side, landed 3 feet in bounds in the endzone and Dural had his man beat until he inexplicably stopped his run and made an awkward adjustment. Might have lost it in the lights.
3. Dural stone hands at the five with no defender within 5 yards. Catch and turn to his left at an angle and he is in untouched.
4. Dupre back of the endzone. May have been tipped by the defender, but that hit both hands and his lack of body control was bad.
Bonus, I think it was Dupre that should have caught one of those PI calls. Defender held his waist, but did not affect the ball or Dupre's hands, which both contacted the ball as it slipped through.
Three bad tosses by Harris, but count 3 of those catches, and we probably see a different stat line with at least more attempts. The second half game plan was not so subtly punitive toward the receivers and perhaps a little Harris for the bad performance in the first half.

Harris really wasn't the problem. He wasn't perfect but he missed on maybe 4 passes it appears (out of 15+), hell, 11 of 15 would have been a great night (10 of 15 good too)...
The three straight passes to Dural are infuriating, all of those pretty much are on him. The 2nd throw was not perfect but easily catchable if he made more than a half arse effort to get to it.

It's a but infuriating how different Dural looks on these same routes from Harris as he did with Jennings. He was the top wr in the SEC at this point last year. We need to work out some kinks for sure.

Which would have put him at about 8/15. Not bad considering at of the low percentage deep stuff.
I think the staff is genuinely trying to bring him along at the right pace. They really couldn't do much for MSU and Auburn because of the magnitude of those games, but I saw an effort to throw more against Syracuse and EMU. Syracuse was too close for comfort forcing us to back off of the pass and EMU featured too much downfield passing with early subs on defense that kept it closer than it needed to be, IMO.
The receivers struggled against EMU. I think we all agree on that, but where was the dink and dunk passing that this young QB needs to gain confidence? Heck, we watched Brees light it up Sunday night and he couldn't throw it over 20 yards with much accuracy. The plan for him needs to involve more high percentage passing, so the linemen, receivers, and QB can get the reps they obviously need. To me, there was a bit of a wasted opportunity there with all of the long ball stuff.

Those interference calls were legit and probably completions without interference.
This^^^... I remember at half-time seeing the 4-for-13 stat and thinking "HUH? He didn't look that bad.... did they count those 'pass INT' throws?"
So how many INTERFERENCE calls were they? I remember 3 in 1st half, maybe 1 more in 2nd?
