Chromecast isn't an app driven devices... it's a mirroring/cloud play device. Two completely different tools.

Okay. So under which language on Duolingo can I find what you just wrote?

After playing with Nexus 6P for 15 minutes: Hell yes. Hell to the yes. If this phone's camera and battery measure up, I want this phone.

Think of chromecast as a fetcher. You have an app on your phone/tablet/pc, the app generally does all the heavy lifting while you search for something to play. Once you have found it, it sends the "link" to the chromecast and it plays it there. Is a companion device.

Roku/appltv/nexus player (although you can cast to it like a chromecast) have their own apps to launch and are stand alone media players.

I can type REALLY fast, though.

Roku and Apple have their own native apps. Netflix, HBO Go, etc. each with their own designed interfaces. It's a different experience.

Chromecast is just sending what you're playing on your device (mobile or pc) to your tv through your wireless network. This requires apps that allow it though so it doesn't work with everything on your phone although it covers the essentials that most people use.

So why would anyone buy a Chromecast when they can buy a Roku3 which can do the same thing as a Chromecast but also has more stuff?

$35 vs. $140

And you may not want/need the extra stuff.

Way easier for me to get to what I want to play on my phone than using a remote, especially trying to type out stuff. Especially now that apps are integrating into google search, I can search a movie, open it on said app and cast it to the tv (And with HDMI-CEC it automatically switches input).

Edit: It's definitely preference too because I know people who will always prefer a remote to using their phones and casting. Price is also another thing as said above.

The price, and it does everything I need it to. I only wanted something for Netflix, HBOGo, WatchESPN, and YouTube. Chromecast does all of that for $35. Roku was around $100 when I was shopping. No-brainer.

your phone can be a remote for Apple tv and Roku.

so can roku and apple tv

depends on your speaker setup really

What does new chromecast offer over old chromecast besides better wifi support?

That's it... the old one will get the same feature through an over air update.

But the wifi stuff is important. 3 antennas. ac support. 5 GHz

so can roku and apple tv

Price has always been the difference in choosing these for me. $15 higher for the roku stick, $34 higher for the old apple tv, $65 higher for the roku 3, and $115 higher for the new apple tv

all the camera reviews i have read thus far have been legit

according to DXOmark (the standard for cameras) nexus 6p is beat only by the S6Edge/Note5 - so thats definitely promising.

im really shocked it beat the LG G4 tbh, because that camera is amazing
