Bow Season: One week from today...

One week from today I will hear my alarm go off and turn the coffee pot on. My dad and I will sit down at the table at the camp and figure out the absolute perfect plan for opening morning. I will hop in the shower to wash away as much of my predatory scent as possible. When I open my tote of camouflage clothes and begin getting dressed, I'll know the time has finally come.
One week from today I will quietly sneak into my tree stand, a cool fall breeze in my face; my light low to the ground, avoiding the crack of another stick under my foot with every step. As I ascend up the tree and get settled into to my 2'x2' home for the next few hours, a nervous and excited calm will come over me. A feeling that is unmatched.
One week from today the sun will rise in the east displaying the prettiest blues and oranges the sky has to offer. The birds and the squirrels will begin their morning routines with the sounds of chirps and rustling through the dried leaves. And right then and there will the long wait of the off season will have come to and end.
To all the bow hunters out there.. it's almost time!

Beat me to it Hat - and well said! Similar ritual next week only I will be by myself at the camp. Ready for the season and sure hope you are right about the cool fall breeze - either way, I will be strapped in and settled well before daylight!
Guys - please do not forget to check your straps before climbing and wear a safety harness - we read about tragedies each year so lets do what we can to make sure we get back home safely!
Cant wait for the first IST nest week

Usta dream about oct. 1 or, close to it, for as long as I can remember. In those dreams, maybe for close to 50 years with "some kind" of a bow, there were never skeeters, gnats, or 94 degree temps. Now, I dream of, not the ascending of the tree, but, the end of the 1st hour, "post ascension", after I get my ol' arse up the tree and I've slowed down the river of sweat.

I was coming here this morning to post about the countdown to hunting season. I've had a hard time sleeping all week this week already trying to figure out where I'll hunt. Next week will be completely sleepless!

Our season opens Saturday. I don't have many good bucks on camera yet so I'm probably going to go after this old timer

AR opener on Saturday and I won't be going. High is supposed to be 90 degrees, last buck I killed went about 270. No way I can get that tracked, gutted and loaded without worrying about it going bad. First 70 degree day and I'm there.
