Dead set on it, no. I didn't get a live weight, I used a boneless meat to weight conversion chart. We got 120 pounds of boneless meat. Generally speaking we seem to get about a 40-45 percent return when we have measured so we simply applied that to this one. I've got pics of it but not something I'm going to argue.

Zone B in Alabama opens on Oct 25. I will make it up to the farm Nov 11 (I'll be the first to hunt our property) and stay till the 22nd. Can't wait.

When do you plan on hunting? if it's the opener and you haven't been shooting then thats pretty shitty

Serious Question - how often do you practice shooting (question open for others as well). I generally start about 1 month - 2 months before season. Don't have opp for shot outside 30 yds where I hunt so stay within that range and mostly shoot for muscle memory. I remember about 30 years or so ago the bow I had needed to basically be re-sighted every year. Technology for bows now, as long as stored properly, make it such that they don't need a lot of shooting IMO.

My parents live in one of those large private communities in Central Arkansas (like 17,000+ residents, several small lakes, golf courses thing). The deer have gotten so dense they opened up for bow hunting. The first weekend this year they had at least 155 deer donated to soup kitchens, charities, etc.. Yet Dad still had to watch out the following Monday for a small herd wandering between the house and nearest grocery store. The small herd eventually meandered through their yard.

That area is full of wildlife. I have seen turkeys, black bear, possums bigger than any out in the boonies of NW La where I live, many many deer, coyote...all in the parents yard over the years. Only thing I seem to have that they do not is bobcats and panthers.

Pretty expensive for out of state to get to hunt there. State and village permits, village entry fee and only allowed in with resident or law enforcement invitation (they run some pretty tight security, but for the hunting probably just a matter of listing folks so they can get to the deer and make sure not some nefarious characters using hunt as excuse to loot and pillage). Think the donation to charity is also a stipulation for their particular village too.

From what I've seen of those deer it's lawn chair hunting lol. Get a cooler of beverages, a chaise lounge, wait for the victims to walk in front of your arrow. So many golf cart folks around no need to track the injured, someone will fetch it for you.

Anybody else get really aggravated at the squirrels on opening day because you keep mistaking them playing for a 15 point double drop tine walking up behind you? Lol
