It can be interesting to watch if you concentrate on the blocking schemes - pulling and trapping and stuff like that. And of course it's fun when the backs break a big one or a play action pass goes for a long one.

Fournette will be even more effective with more balance. The philosophy was 1 made fg from costing us a game that should have never come down to that. It has cost up 2-3 games in season's past.
We need an offense like 2013 that still features a back like Hill for over 1k..but with a defense.. To have national championship aspirations. I believe we have that on both sides of the ball. I believe LSU will open it up more as the season goes on. What we saw at home week 1 and the first half of miss st is for a reason and it's coming.

I was an OT in high school, and we ran this same type of offense. Gritty and crushing run game with passing plays when needed. That's the reason I love LSUs offense. Got big heavy TEs blocking, fullback creating spaces, and a RB who can create for himself. The only problem is, sometimes it becomes overkill and in HS we would run the same plays over and over even though they didnt work. Going into my senior year, we got a transfer dual threat QB and ran I formation and read options. So many different looks let us run the same plays but add little tweaks here and there. Imho LSUs current offense works fine, but they just need to add in a few tweaks to make it harder for the defense to recognize what's going on.

It wears down the fans. The opposition outscored LSU 19-7 after the first quarter.

I don't think anyone is against running the football a lot, so I think you're missing the point.
No one is happy with the fact that we do the same 5 running plays over and over.
When you do the same thing, it's easy for defensive coaches and players to key on a movement or presnap read and know exactly what's coming.
So, maybe add some formations or different looks and still give it to Fournette 25-30 times. Or put a better athlete at fullback sometimes (like Jacob Hester style) and do some more of that shite that worked so well. Guice is probably the same size as Hester was, and probably has better "measurables."
When's the last time we ran a draw? (not the QB variety)
Hopefully the variety will come as Brandon Harris continues to get experience, but this shite has been going on awhile.

If we are supposed to learn to love that type of offense, then why are we trying to get so many WRs yearly? Why are we getting a pass catching TE every year?

Doesn't make sense with the players we are recruiting. I mean have you seen the hands from Ducre, Fournette, Williams, and Guice? Moore was a TE in HS, Mouton was a TE in high school, Upchurch was a WR. Smith, Washington, and now Pettigrew, all top 6 TEs, all receiving TEs.
So forgive me if I want to see an NFL level offense. Utilization of all pass catchers (WRs, RBs, TEs, FBs), and not just special packages like put Guice in for one play and predictably throw to him.

For gods sake.
Nobody is arguing that LF should not get the ball 20+ times a game.
People are arguing that Lea just shouldn't make it so obvious and that if we mixed in play action or ran LF out of a passing formation, the defense might actually have to pay attention to the receivers which might actually help LF get even more yards.

The video clip in that article is amazing. The right side of our offense of line did not block a single defender. And yet Fournette was still able to pick up the first down.
