Trijicon Agog, yay or nay?

4x Acog. Anyone out there have on on their AR?
I shoot eotechs and PRO's usually, and just couldn't justify $1300 on a scope, but after playing with one today, I really like it.
Anyone got any feedback?

Don't own one but I really like them as well. I would get the one with the RMR mounted on top if I was going to pay that kind of money for a scope. All about what you plan to use it for I guess. I really wish Eotech wouldn't run on batteries like the trijicon.

The main thing that turns me off to ACOGs is the fact that they have a fixed magnification. That plus the eye relief is a bit strange. Then again, I don't have any time behind one so my opinion may not hold any water.
I prefer an adjustable low power optic (like a 1-4x or 2-7x) so that I can vary the power level if I have to do some shooting upclose. If you were to get the ACOG, as suggested by the other poster, I would also get an unmagnified dot for close range.
Trijicon seems to be the only one who has perfected using fiber optics and tritium to illuminate their reticles. I had an RMR on my handgun and just swapped it for another RMR. Their products are expensive but they are true military grade and will last forever.

Browe BCO is way better than an acog. Check it out. Their blue retucle is amazing.

ACOGs (fixed 4x) are great. Can be used in close range settings fairly well and great out to about 300m. Pretty good all around optic that is nearly indestructible.
If you are looking for a do all you will not find one but, a true 1-4x with some illumination may be a better option. Personal preference and all that...

Yes! Worth the money. I've had one every deployment and loved them. Troops usually fight to get an ACOG vs. M68s. You're lucky if EO tech is an option if you can't get the ACOG.
I own one as well for my AR and love it. Damn thing is indestructible. Add a good ole bible verse on it and you got a winner.

Also one to check out are the Elcan SpecterOS 4x. Very similar reticle and comes with a QD mount for 1250 at swfa.com I've done a lot of hard shooting with both the RCO (TA31A) and Elcan. I think the elcan has better eye relief. The elcan uses batteries to illuminate the reticle (which is not necessary to use the optic but is a nice to have) as opposed to the fiber optics and tritium used in the acog. However, on typical bright days (in say... a desert) the fiber optics of the acog actually collect too much light and cause the chevron reticle to 'bleed' (ie blurry) so we all put electricians take over 4/5ths of the exposed fiber optic so reduce this and peeled it back as the light levels got lower.
I could go on and on...

I've had one on a Ar for over 15 years, never had to touch it and the ridicule is right on for 223 out to 600. Only problem is half life is gone on the tritium and I need to send it in to get it replaced just haven't done it..

Mine has the bible verse as well. I also have a 1x4 tricon scope with both fiber optics and tritium. Awesome little scope and it has a shade that you adjust the fiber light coming through built in. It has the triangle in Amber on top of the post. These are both eye open designed optics.

That is a really tiny optic. I feel bad for your eyes.

I had one and just sold it to my brother last week. I loved it and had no issues with it, but if I was to get another I wouldn't have gotten the green horse shoe and that's simply just personal preference.
I wanted a scope with a variable zoom as my rifle was set up more as an SPR.

If I built an SPR, I would put some sort of 1-8 power optic.

Yea ultimately I think that's my goal. I just sent my vortex viper 4-16 up north to get them to repair it. It's been on a 7 mag and I think the recoil was a bit too much for it as it had some speck show up in the lower quadrant. So that's what prompted me to move it to this AR of mine.
Eventually I'll prob throw a high dollar 1-8 on there.

Schmidt and Bender. You will never regret it as far as money spent on optics goes. If 3k is what you mean by high end.

I like the vortex train to be honest but if I get another it's going to be a razor. I'd like the have the 1-6 on the AR and the 4.5-27 on the 7 mag as that's my next project for an ELR rifle.
I'm not opposed to S&B, it's just you're paying for that brand name with them as well! Lol

I like mine. They aren't for everyone but they are a great optic for AR's.

I ordered the Razor HD genii on Amazon to check it out. That 1-6 weighs a crap ton but the quality is amazing.

I would go the variable 1-x or even 2.5-x route. Lots of good options out there.
Just off the top of my head that I know we have in stock:
Vortex Razor 1-6
Vortex PST 1-4
Vortex PST 2.5-10
Kahles 1-6
Swarovski 1-6
Nightforce 1-4
Nightforce 2.5-10
Trijicon 1-4
Trijicon VCOG
Burris XTR II 1-5
Burris XTR II 1.1-8
If you can get over to Hammond, you can play with all of them.

How is the XTR series? I have only used the Eliminator III on a buddys .338LM savage.

I really dig how far they have come in the past 5 years.
The XTRIIs have been great for us.
Becoming part of Beretta Defense has been the best thing that has ever happened to them.
