I think beets is a food with no middle ground. You either REALLY like them, or you REALLY DON'T. Not a lot of "so-so", or "they're ok".

My mother used to buy a pack of fresh chicken hearts and a pack of livers and cook them down slowly in a skillet with a little cooking oil. She would add a little water as needed for gravy. Served over rice. I really miss that.
