If that's actually you in your profile pic, I can see why the cops were messing with you. You look like a douche bag

Seriously, bring cups. Do not have an open container.

This is true but I didn't find the cops to ne dicks about it. We didn't know and they just told us we could dump it, chug it, or hang near our car until we were finished. They were really cool about it.

Go to the concession stand at Davis Wade and marvel at the nearly illiterate high-schoolers produced by Oktibbeha County Public Schools.

1. Buy $25 worth of meat on a stick. The meat is worth it.
2. Pay with two $20's and a $5. Trust me.
3. Upon receiving the correct change after the high-schooler uses a calculator to add 20 + 20 then subtract 5+5+5+5+5, convince them that they entered it wrong.
4. Convince them that 20+20+5=85. Use the term "order of operations" if necessary. It'll make your math unquestionable.
5. Walk away with an extra $60 and free meat on a stick. Walk in slow motion like you're walking away from an explosion in a movie.

They have some of the nicest fans in the SEC. Lots of good old country people that love State. It is a more laid back type of environment. If you are looking for a party place this isn't the trip for you. I have lots of friends that are fans there and they have some nice tailgates. I much prefer them to the obnoxious Ole Miss fans.

They used to have a very nice university golf course. It's not on campus but somewhere just outside of Starkville. It may be private but we had friends that could get us on. Worth a shot if you play golf. Other than that not much to do. I do remember they don't sell cold beer but do sell beer.

Lots have changed since '02! Cold beer has been for sale since 2005. Plenty of nice bars & eating establishments especially in the Cotton District.

Friday night, in the Cotton District, Bulldog Bash will be taking place, with 3 reasonably good bands. Link for those interested .. LINK /

For golf .. University Gold Course is nearby, and link for reservations is ..

Best course in Mississippi is Old Waverly, just south of West Point and just a few miles from Starkville. Link for reservations is .. LINK /

Mississippi State Golf team is relocating to Old Waverly and building a team clubhouse and practice area.

I like the openness and country feel of the campus. It's a nice drive from Jackson to Starkville.

Keep your alcohol in a cup.

Generally they will say some slight snarky remark then offer you some food or beer.

Bin 612 area is where most night life will happen this weekend

You WILL be disappointed with the Mexican food there if you go

Old Venice has a good Lasagna pizza that is off menu. Stromboli's has amazing calzones.

Go to Strange Brew and get something YETI style. It's amazing and the best coffee place I have had in a long time.

Bulldog Bash is this weekend

Starkville is not as bad as some folks here make it out.

Bulldog Bash is on Friday and it is usually a good time.

Eat at The little dooey if you get a chance. The veranda is good eats as well.

Fans are nice and you can walk around the junction area where people are set up for tailgating.
