I've noticed both of these on HBO's lineup recently ... I can never find the time to watch them.

Are either of them actually any good?

If you:

1. Have chest hair
2. Love freedom
3. Love Bacon
4. Have Big Balls
5. Eat bloody steaks

Then...

John Wick is the best movie of the year

Haven't seen the drop but loved Wick. I'm not the biggest fan of pure popcorn flick nonstop action movies but Wick was extremely well done for what it was.

The Drop is awesome. It's "dark", but really good. Tom Hardy is a phenomenal actor. And Tony Soprano's last film. Rip.

Started John Wick last night, but fell asleep.

The Drop was not as good as I thought it was be, but was still 100x better than John Wick.

Can't go wrong with either. Watch John Wick if you're in the mood for a revenge thriller and watch The Drop if you're in the mood for a drama thriller.

John Wick is a balls out fun action movie. The Drop is a better movie but is a slow burn.

Wick is great. I don't really like straight action flicks and I enjoyed the heck out of Wick.

The fight choreography was awesome.

Fun film. Anyone who dislikes it, has zero credibility.

You can watch HBO on demand. DVR is irrelevant.

I liked The Drop a lot. Tom Hardy is great.

John Wick is good for what it is: non-stop gun fights.

I'll be different and say The Drop was a huge letdown for me. The acting was great, but it felt slow to me. Like not Tinker Tailor slow, but pretty damn slow. The end did not make up for it IMO

Watched wick a few nights ago. Definitely surprised me because the previews made it look awful. Don't get me wrong, it won't be winning any Oscars. But if you just want to make a stout drink and enjoy Keanu reeves kick arse for 1.5 hours, it's not a bad choice. And I think he's a terrible actor. If you like Taken, you'd probably have fun with this. Like somebody else said, the choreography was really unique and pretty entertaining

Eta: if it wasn't already clear, this isn't a movie you watch for the plot. It's purely an action scene from beginning to end basically. Cheesy as all hell, but if you go into it with the right mindset it's fine. Like a will Ferrell movie... If you go into it expecting an intellectually stimulating movie, you're gonna have a bad time

If you liked The Raid, then John Wick is for you. It's got a paper thin plot, but the action and fight choreography are great.

Haven't seen The Drop yet, but it's got Tom Hardy and James Gandolfini, gotta be watchable for those two alone.

People either love john wick or hate it.

If you have a boring life, don't watch john wick.

If you have a sense of humor and want some mindless fun for 90 minutes, john wick is great.

The fight choreography is some of the best you'll see in a movie. It's worth it just for that.

I haven't seen The Drop but John Wick is definitely a fun ride. It's fast and doesn't require rapt attention. Very well done pop corn movie
