I took it at work in my free time. Took me about a week. You can't just skip to the quizzes b/c each slide is timed.

so terrible, but probably good they require it now.

I'll admit it, I never knew this law existed. March of 84. Anybody got a link to this course and test?
ETa: why the arbitrary date?

Kids should be required to know proper safety and boating skills in every state.

I agree, however when this law was passed, it forced some adults to take the test while others didn't have to. If it was going to be implemented, it should have been done for people under the age of 18 when the law was passed. Lack of boating skills knows no age. Plus it's another tax

My insurance company offered me a discount if I took it. I started then I saw how long it was going to take. Nope.

Think everyone should have to take it, I've been on the water all my life and still learned a few things. The class is free and doesn't take that long go through. You can even do it from the comfort of your own home. You might even learn something that will keep you from killing someone else. Their is really no logical reason to not take the time and do it besides being hard headed and stubborn, or if you don't operate a boat.

It's not free. To get the certificate you pay a fee (tax) of $25, which isn't a big deal except that we are already taxed and feed to death.

Has it always been 25$? I don't remember having to pay for it but it's been years since I took it.

The test blows. Watch out for scam sites too. From what a coast guard auxiliary lady told me there's a few sites that will charge you for the class but only give a temporary certificate and dont send the card in the mail.

So was I wrong to let my kids pull me on the boogie board, or does a rope count as supervision?

I've also let my son take my boat out several times without me. Glad green jeans wasn't around.

He needs to get his shite together. I'm an exempt old fart.

I was born in 83, but I still took it a few years ago. It was free back then though.
