Did anyone here actually hate Ex Machina and Mad Max Fury Road?

I can't imagine anyone could hate those two movies.
Actually, someone could simply watch Ex Machina, Mad Max Fury Road, and It Follows and pretty much call it a day for the rest of the year.
Those three about cover all bases.

I loved Ex Machina.
I liked Mad Max. It was hurt by the excess of Charlize.

I was spoiled for Ex Machina so I knew what was going to happen and when and that took away. It was a well acted movie with suck a limited set. I liked the concept as well.
Mad Max was a great movie, and that's one of the ones you will watch every single time it comes on AMC or TNT in 20 years.
I haven't seen It Follows yet. I wanted to watch it the other night but Insidious 3 won the voting.
I'll watch It Follows soon.

I didn't hate Max; was just dissappointed.
Hard act to follow Mel and the originals.

There isn't a single movie ever made where you can't find somebody that doesn't like it.
There's always somebody.

Mad MAx was awesome. I liked the Theron's character because it kinda expanded the Mad Max universe.
I heard the sequel will actually be a prequel and it will center more on Max, with his car.

I like it, it was a group of us and a few of us (including myself) jumped at some scenes. So it did what a scary movie should do. I liked it better than the first one and I never saw the second one.
We watched it on Pubfilm through a chromecast.

I know someone who legit HATES the Godfather part II, but likes one. It boggles my f'ing mind.
Though to be fair, same person thinks the civil war was over 200 years ago.

2 best movies of the year

Really liked Ex Machina and thought Mad Max was ok.
I really would have probably liked Mad Max more had I not heard how great it was. Turned out to be a really long chase scene. It looked tremendous, and for what it was it was spectacular...but there wasn't much story at all.
I'll rematch Ex Machina when it makes it' way to various platforms...I doubt I'll re-watch Mad Max.

Ex Machina is great.
Mad Max is great for what it is, but I don't really have any desire to ever watch it again. Epitome of fun summer cinema experience.
I'll watch It Follows again late one night. Maybe around Halloween.

I thought Ex Machina was "ehhh"
I mean, it wasn't the worst thing ever seen, but it's not this masterpiece like it's been propped up on this board.
It was way too vague for my liking. Just when you're getting emotionally involved in a scene, it jumps a whole day and completely kills it.

I liked Ex Machina but not as much as the board did. There is a little action and a little tension with the plot twists, but for the most part the movie is people talking about AI related concepts. I found some of it provocative, but for me The Matrix is the gold standard for packaging cool scifi concepts, and Ex Machina falls far, far short of that standard. I'm glad I watched it but I doubt I'll see it again. I can imagine quite a few people that would hate this movie. Again, the movie is mostly conversations and I'd argue they're talking about something that is of little interest to or above the heads of quite a few people in this country.

I feel asleep watching ex machina, don't really feel like spending more time to finish it.

FWIW...It Follows surprised me more than Ex Machina, and I really like Ex Machina. It Follows is the best horror movie I've seen since The Strangers or The Descent.
If I was to rank my top 3 movies this year, I'd rank them:
Mad Max: Fury Road
It Follows
Ex Machina

Loved all of them and in that order.

I liked It Follows a lot. I liked the feel, the originality, and I how it was hard to tell what time period it took place in, but....
SPOILERISH
I wasn't crazy about the ending. It ended kinda abruptly and just left me with a really bad "unresolved" feeling. It was almost as if they didn't know how to end it. Anyone else feel this way?

Hopefully it's about the time between 1 and 2.
