quote:

These large animals are living in what you have to assume is much hotter and much more acidic water, and they’re just hanging out,” Phillips says. “It makes you question what type of extreme environment these animals are adapted to. What sort of changes have they undergone? Are there only certain animals that can withstand it? It is so black and white when you see a human being not able to get anywhere near where these sharks are able to go.”

Erupting volcano slings sharks 100s of miles inland.

So......they just didn't feel like attempting to validate this? What if the environment isn't as extreme as they thought?

They didn't drop it, but it's kinda an irrelevant statement to the point.

Divers often can't even get close to the volcano due to the heat and the water turning so acidic it starts to burn their skin.

They found sharks in ground zero.

Even if it's the same as surrounding conditions it's still pretty shocking that the would tolerate those conditions.

As if we didn't have enough to worry about as it is. Now we've gotta deal with volcano sharks.

If they stay there all the time, that means other animals are living there too. Sharks got to eat.

If they are just coming to hang out with no food, there must be something pleasurable about the heat/acid conditions.

You can still nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.
