I actually really like this movie, despite the breakaways from the comics.
Rorschach was probably the best part of the entire movie, except for the best opening credits of any movie ever made.
LINK
Also, the fight scenes were very well done. The scene where they rescue Rorschach from the prison is pretty badass.
It definitely deserves higher than the 65% it got on Rotten Tomatoes and 56% it got on Metacritic.

Great movie. I have the special edition dvd with all the extra stuff, I like the theatrical cut better.

It's a pretty long movie, but otherwise was a really great movie and Rorschach was awesome in it, I agree. Plus the chick who played Silk Spectre II was hot as frick.

I liked it. It has IMO the best sound track for a movie of all time.

Is it fricked up I completely agree with Ozymandias and think he was totally justified for what he did?

Love the movie. Find it hilarious how many dudes get upset over a blue cartoon dick.

I see it as a fine companion piece to the novel, but it just doesn't work that great as a movie. It's long and still manages to feel rushed. It wants to feel like Blade Runner but has these corny, overly-stylized fight scenes with cartooney violence, hence the tone is all over the place. Some really bad, distracting performances too. The Comedian is the most interesting character in the movie, and it hurts when he's not on screen. The movie wants to be weird but wouldn't commit to the weirdest part of the book, and Jon frame-up doesn't work. The destruction of NY hits with a huge thud.
In the end, Snyder didn't want to make a movie that existed as its own thing, with its own identity. He made the book and it only half works.

Pretty much agree with all that.
I think the movie was like 85% great and like 15% terrible...give or take a few percentage points. I didn't mind the change with Manhattan at the end, but the way they directed that scene you don't really realize that 20 million or so people died.

Saw this movie 3 times in theaters and bought the bluray the day it came out.
Its.my all time favorite super hero movie.
Every character is great and you can watch the movie 100 times and still catch little things you didn't realize that add depth to the characters.

Not at all. It is like Dr. Manhattan said, "I neither condone nor condemn, but I understand".
Ozymandias' logic is sound.
Humanity will only cease its self-destruction when it is forced to unite against a common enemy.
The question is if you see Ozymandias as either a hero or villain.
The only issue I take with his actions is that he was willing to sacrifice others but didn't sacrifice himself.
Some may say that his psychological sacrifice is sufficient, but I disagree.

One of the only times I have booed a movie in the theatre.
They changed the ending. They ruined the central theme of the sordid reality of how things actually get done in this crazy world.
If you didn't read the book then you may not understand. They attempted to dumb things down for an audience, some of which brought children to watch I might add, who was never going to get it in the first place. Dr Manhattans ability to see time in a nonlinear way just cant be translated on screen.
And if the complete frickjob of how they changed teh end wasnt bad enough, and I assure you it was, they took out the nude scene with Silk Spectre yet we got plenty of Manhattan full frontal. Fk whoever made this film.

I didn't read the book and literally only saw the movie because a guy on my tennis team showed me "Take a Bow" by Muse, which was in one of the trailers on his ipod, and I went on to overplay the shiite out of that song until it came out.
Going into it blind, it somehow took me by storm and I fell in love with it as a super hero movie. I own it and haven't watched it in awhile but I may do so this weekend now.

I thought this movie was absolutely terrible.

Some people apparently despise this movie.

I remember being underwhelmed after seeing it in the theater, but liking it more after a couple more viewings. Now I think its a pretty solid movie.
