She isn't old enough to have a drivers license. Maybe ask to see her report card

I mean, if they hit puberty early and are tall for their age, I can see how a 14 year old could look 17.

considering 30+ year old women i know still worship britney spears and 30+ year old men i know still watch cartoons and play video games, i think he may be overrating the actual maturity level of 17 year olds these days (esp compared to 14 year olds)

You been to a waterpark lately? Some of the AP and LP future strippers will make you poor really fast if you start gambling on that assertion at Blue Bayou.

Holy shite. And what the girl did wasn't worse how?

I bet you couldn't tell the difference between a 14 year old and a 17 year old chick based on the way they "act".

This would be very easy these days. There are 14 year olds that look 20 these days. Its kind of scary.
1. It's wrong this guy is in jail and having to face being a registered sex offender for the next quarter century.
2. How does a parent not know their 14 yr old daughter is on-line pretending to be an adult and meeting up with strangers for sex?!?!
3. While I think this guy has been done wrong by the justice system, I do not think he will have much luck on appeal. I say that because for the judicial system to overturn his conviction, they would have to admit that basically a 14 year old can consent to having sex with an adult. I just don't see them doing that.

I'm sure you'd say the same thing about a 14 year old unarmed 6'0 black kid that accidentally gets shot by a cop during a charged situation.
Back when I was in college there was the smoking hot girl that was at plenty of parties I would go to. There were dudes all over here all the damn time. I thought she was a college junior by the way she looked and acted since most people tend to act buck wild their first couple of years in school.
A year later I was in the student teaching program and started teaching at a local high school. She ended up being in sophomore English class I was teaching. I about had a heart attack when she recognized me and came up laughing about a fight at a party that had happened a while back. I was terrified that she might tell other students that she had partied w/the college kid teaching class.
Many girls these days don't necessarily look, act, or dress age appropriate.

So a HS freshman and a HS junior are drastically different in maturity levels? No, they aren't.

per the article, the state supreme court is deciding a "she lied" case soon and may allow that as a defense
now in Louisiana, the statute CLEARLY says that this is not a defense, which is just ridiculous...but is based around that logic

Clearly you have not spent a lot of time around teenagers lately.
They are generally not very mature at all.
Now generally the older a kid gets the better they usually are, but if you put a hundred teenage girls in a room and tried to figure out their age by how they acted and how they looked, you would be shite out of luck.

You are a lawyer, it's your people who make ridiculous blanket laws like this. You are part of the problem.....lol
Naw really, prosecutors who can't see obvious things and choose to set examples rather than pursue true justice suck, and should not be in that position.

That's not true really. They can still drastically reduce his sentence and remove him from the registry, while still saying he's guilty.

Politicians are just as guilty and not all of them are lawyers.
I could see a politician running a campaign on the promise that "they will protect our youth from predators!" and winning in a landslide.

I'm pretty sure I spend time around them daily.
You?
