Heading to Perdido on Saturday - worth bringing the fishing gear?

I'll be in Perdido from Saturday-Wednesday with the in-laws and was wondering if it's worth bringing the gear to fish with. I want to stay in FL to do my fishing, so driving to Orange Beach, Ft. Morgan, etc... isn't really in the cards. Anyone live or fish the area and think it's worth the effort? I will be boat-less if that influences your recommendation one way or the other.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I'll be down tomorrow evening about a half mile past the Florabama. I'll be wasted fishing from the beach no doubt

I've caught mule trout off of the pier behind my condo we stay at the Eden there's a gate you have to have access to fish off of it but the condo right next to it you don't have to have one go out there at night they have a green light on the dock or early in the morning.

Was down there around this time last year. I watched two kids catch specs, reds, drum, flounder, and sheephead every cast from the beach. They had bass equipment and had no clue what they were even catching!

Thanks, that's awesome. We are staying at the Eden so that works out perfect. What were you fishing with?

I will be in Orange Beach this weekend through Monday. Going flounder gigging and probably a little bowfishing Sunday night.

Head to the Gulf Shores Pier. You won't be disappointed. Grab a bait catching lure and fish the bait on one side of the pier, fish King's, Jacks, Spanish, Ladyfish, etc. on the otherside using said bait fish.
I am addicted.

Trying to keep it in Florida for licensure reasons, but good to know for the future.

I know a guy that lives on Ono Island that fishes at the Gulf State Park pier. He said if you catch something from the pier you better reel it in with quickness or the sharks will get it.

Catch some sand fleas and fish beach for Pompano or redfish, sometime sthe Blues/Ladyfish will school up, fish the grass flats with topwater (Superspook or Mirrolure Top Dog) at daybreak behind the amphitheater and observation pier at Big Lagoon State Park for specs and reds.

Ill also be in Perdido next weekend and was thinking about bringing my gear to try and surf fish. Anyone know the limits and size regulations for reds, pompano, and flounder (or anything else I might catch)?

How strict are green jeans on the coast? I don't plan on keeping any fish, just want to see if I can "conquer the key" and set the hook a few times.
Make a few cast here and there when not playing sandemonium and crushing 8oz millers.

Ive been going for 7 years and have never had an encounter of the green kind.
I think the might cruise the little public spots though, but you wont get messed with by a house.

I'll be on Ft Morgan Tuesday through Sunday. Do you need a freshwater in order to get a saltwater license?
ETA just getting the 7 day trip
