don't be surprised when your house floods.
River Bluff in Bossier
This is an overhead video of people (apparently someone knows the Sheriff) sandbagging their houses in River Bluff. It's a neighborhood in North Bossier that is completely on the river side of a levee. The cheapest house in the place is around $300K and the nicer ones have to be near $1M. The Red River is supposed to crest tomorrow at 1-1.5 over flood stage.
Dumbasses, hope they have good flood insurance.
ETA- The $300K houses are the ones in the back of the neighborhood. They are ok, for now. The houses that are about to flood are the $1M+ houses. Let that sink in.
(Might as well change the name to cover the entire flood)

The settlers 300 years ago were way smarter than us

Must be nice to have DOC bring some prisoners by to put the sandbags down on your private property.

It's definitly a dumb place to build a home. I wonder if they used a drone to film that video.

Bring on the inmate labor! Those guys were probably happy to be out in the fresh air, getting some exercise and working on their tans.

Why the frick would you build on the RIVER side of the levee?
And someone is calling in some favors from the Sheriff's office to get inmate labor on private residences...

If you choose to build there it seems like they could have taken some basic precautions like raise the house on piers.

Pwersonally I feel we should do a lot more inmate labor. Voluntary of course. I am sure the ones there did want to get out. Let them fill potholes, and dig the ditches and do the menial jobs not getting done.
Angola labor could fix up so much around the state.

I drive by it everyday going home and ask my self the same thing. It would be one thing if the neighborhood was run down houses that had been there for 50 years. But these are all newer houses (not even 5 years old). They have a few shells going up right now.

Sounds like the Bluff part was a bit of a stretch.

That's part of living by any water source. In America we put a high value on being right on top of a water source, fully knowing it could flood/damage your house. That's not going to keep people from buying as long as they can find insurance.
Eta: as stated though, building the house on piers would be the intelligent thing to do.
