Is the BR Zoo worth it? Is there any fun family-friendly events today?

I have found the BR Zoo to be one of the more under-rated Baton Rouge activities. I've gone a few times and always have a good time. They have a few shows including the elephants and snakes. It's nothing super special, but it is an inexpensive and fun afternoon getaway.

The BR zoo is ok. I prefer making the drive to NOLA and going to the Audubon Zoo instead. BR zoo is a bit smaller and not as kept up as the Audubon Zoo. Plus last time I went to the BR zoo it seemed like every 3rd exhibit was empty or closed.

It's a pretty bad zoo, but kids don't know the difference so it can be fun with them.

Why don't you check their website or call them? I'm sure they know more than any poster here except maybe jones

It's fun! It's not in any way comparable to Audubon but it's a nice size zoo that is relatively low priced. The train is a lot of fun to ride. Some of the exhibits clearly show their age, but they have some new ones as well. Membership fee is very affordable. The halloween and christmas events are a lot of fun.

The USS Kidd and museum, The Louisiana State Museum and the Louisiana Art & Science Museum are all great family activities in Baton Rouge.

If you go in the morning when it opens, it's definitely worth it. The kids can see the Tigers, flamingos, giraffes, ect and they'll have a blast. Just, word of advice, don't go in the middle of the day. it gets hot as balls and there's little shade to be had.

From a kid's point of view, I don't think there is such a thing as a bad zoo.

Area 51 Trampoline Park is my kids current favorite.
They're usually booked up, so go online the day before and buy tickets for a time slot.

Rather make the drive to New Orleans. The Audubon Zoo is also going through a pretty massive construction plan right now so a good portion is closed.

A lot of their animals are out on loan for breading right now, but we had a good time there this weekend. Just walking around with the family, riding the train around the grounds....it was a good time. I will say the food leaves a TON to be desired though.
