They're the Kit to our Dottie. Let's just hope we don't pull a Dottie and let little sibling win.

One Grand Dad to another, they're capable of pulling the upset. They were pretty fortunate drawing the Houston Regional since they had defeated the Cougars in a regular season meeting in Lafayette. They didn't have to wonder if they could compete, having beaten the #1 seed already. Like LSU's pitching staff and reserves, the bulk of the Cajun squad is young but battle-tested. They have a great coaching staff and a couple of possible future major-leaguers in the everyday lineup. They lost to the Tigers during the year but neither team played their best that night. LSU would be favored at home against any of the other 15 teams still in so yes, in spite of the Cajuns being a tough out, LSU is and should be the prohibitive favorite.

I'm not talking trash. We're the better team by far but anything can happen in a 3 game series. Just going to cheer on my tigers and hope for the best.

"Crappy teams always seem to sneak into the super regional. See: Stony Brook and Houston."

Ouch dude, that's hitting below the belt...
Upvoted anyway though cuz that was one high quality troll there, Bobby Bouchea'.

Cajun8, thanks for the info. There are enough threads going to cover all the trash talking already. What would you say is ULL's strong point? Weak point? How did your projected starter on Fri nite do this wkend. Is he a legit ace?

For the rest of the Cajuns, we'll stop calling you USL erroneously when you stop referring to yourselves as UL or Louisiana erroneously. Louisiana-Lafayette or ULL is perfectly acceptable and legal. Louisiana-Monroe has no problem calling itself ULM. Why do you guys have so much trouble with it?
WTF is wrong with you people? Why give so many fricks that they refer to themselves as "UL"?
Don't you see that only makes you look petty and insecure?

Our strong point is our pitching staff coupled with the ability to manufacture runs on offense even when we are off at the plate. We are pretty aggressive on the base paths. Sometimes to a fault.
The ace on our staff is Freshmen Gunner Leger from Barbe High School. And yes, he is legit. Crafty Lefty with a damn good changeup. Keeps hitters off balance very well. He is very tough mentally, keeps his calm on the mound usually pretty well. He pitched against Houston on Sunday and it is because of him and long reliever Greg Milhorn that we were still in that game with a chance to win in the 9th even though Houston's pitcher had a no-hitter through 7.2 innings.
Another strong point is our bullpen and closer. They have been nothing but spectacular in the postseason and end of regular season.
Weak point is our overall team batting avg. We don't have the scary offense we did last year but we are good enough to get some timely hits when we need them.
Overall, LSU has way more talent than us right now. We lost 7 guys to the mlb draft after last season and a couple seniors as well. But what we do have is sheer grit and determination. Not trying to sound cheesy, but it's pretty evident of this if you look at our post-season run:
Gave away opening round game in SBC Tourny by allowing 4 unearned runs in the 9th to lose. Came back and won 5 straight games through the losers bracket which included a winning 12th inning grand slam against South Alabama in the Championship.
Went on to Regional where we preceded to score 5 runs in the top of the 9th to steal a game from Rice 7-6. Then came back to win against Houston with 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th for a 2-1 win. Then handled Rice with ease in the championship game. 5-2
So we've won 8 straight. Believe we can come back at any point in the game. And having nothing to lose. I wouldn't want to play the Cajuns right now.
So yes, LSU is the clear favorite on paper. But don't be shocked if UL pulls this one out.
May the best team win! Hope everyone has a great time this weekend. I'm sick of reading about all the supposed animosity between the two schools in post season play. That is old history. Last I checked, I was at the 2013 BR regional when the Cajuns played the Tigers for the championship and it went off without a hitch. I didn't see any bad blood. Let's hope this weekend is the same.

But crappy teams don't win national championships. See 6 national championships.

I would have to agree with Cajun8 on all his points.
This weekend also allows the rest of the country to see how much South Louisiana embraces college baseball tradition. I understand LSU has already created that vision but it also has spread in parts outside of Baton Rouge.
Can't wait for the opportunity to party with my fellow LSU and UL friends this weekend.

I'm honestly curious as to why you bumped this thread in mid July.

Same here. Maybe it's from being out of state, but I really don't care about ULL unless we're playing them. Random bump is random...

It seemed very oddly timed. I guess he went and searched for it but again, why?
