Yeah, people see 100 mil and go OMG. By now, people should be used by these QB contracts. Plus the guaranteed money is less than half that.

Wait isn't it $20M Per so on the level with Rodgers / Brees etc.;?

Don't see why this is so out of line?

Rodgers and Brees are Super Bowl MVPs

Brees completes 66% of his passes

Rodgers completes 65% of his passes

Cam completes 59% of his passes

Cam is the king of sailing balls over his WRs heads. Until he improves his passing, he's not really "worth" $100m.

Then again, Andy Dalton is a $100m man. They will keep their teams competitive but they will need a lot of help defensively, WRs, RBs etc if they will ever be true contenders

they have a poor pass protecting offensive line.

that's pretty uneducated of them to throw all that money to Cam and not put much into the line that will be blocking for him.

I talk shite on Cam all the time, but this isn't some terrible deal. He's a starting caliber QB, I'd rank him somewhere 12-15, with youth on his side and likely better play ahead of him. You have to pay to keep that.

This.

I never cease to be amazed at how up in arms people get with these mid-tier QB contracts are announced. I remember when a big deal was made out of Vick's $100M contract with the Eagles and he barely saw a third of that.

marketing appeal

I'm not saying 100 million will hurt Carolina financially. I'm saying it hurts the team. Look what the Brees deal did to the Saints, Flacco with Baltimore, hell even Green Bay after Rodgers big contract. When you tie up that much money with 1 guy, your team will suffer. Carolina will be no different.

It's not a coincidence that Seattle had so little tied up with Wilson and should have won the last 2 Super Bowls.

Seems relative, however, when you consider you what the subtraction of a competent QB would do to the team. I think everyone appreciates your point, that big money could be used to bolster several other areas, but absent serviceable QB play what does that help?

100 mil for an 18 td and 12 int QB just seems like a lot to me
When are you people going to learn it is a business; business is about making money. Is Cam helping the organization make money? It's not about tds and ints.

It's good for the Panthers to encourage stability (starts with QB) as the rest of the division is either in the cellar or on their way into it.

Keeping cam helps the team

But they don't have enough money to get him the help he needs to get where they want to be.. Plus I don't think he is THAT good... Its just the way of the league though.........
