I broke my jaw on an inflatable water slide last summer. Of course, I was 26, drunk, and wrestling with a friend on the way down.
It was at my parents' camp. So I sued the shite out of my parents of course. It wasn't bad luck or the result of my own stupid actions or anything. So I had to sue.

I'm been honest here, I don't even have insurance. But I would never try to pull some bullshite like that. That's what's wrong with this country. You just try to blame somebody else, let somebody else pick up the slack, let somebody else deal with it, let somebody else pay for it. It ain't your boss problem it's your kid, now you be that kids dad and take responsibility. Quit lookin for somebody else to take care of it.
You forgot to say baw somewhere in there.

Homeowners policies have medical payments coverage and liability coverage. The former is if someone gets injured on your property with no negligence on the homeowner.
Like if someone accidentally breaks their leg while at your house.
No case involved
So I hear.

lot's of retard in this thread. many homeowner policies carry medical payments coverage that will pay med bills. fault, liability, etc do not matter. it's for medical bills for injuries occurring on the premises.
on a practical note, unless the boss has offered, I wouldn't risk pissing him off.

Go ahead and file for unemployment while you're at it.

Yep, its usually 5k and your boss's carrier will cut you a check real quick if you waive the liability claim which if its your boss would be a good idea. But that's none of my business.

You should kick your boss's arse first. Then you should bang his old lady and any daughters he as of legal age. Then call the cops to come kill his dog. After that take a giant shite on his front door step. Finally pour salt on his lawn to spell out the words "frick you", make sure it's as close to the center of the front lawn as possible and the letters are at least 6' in length. Then, and only then, you call his insurance.
disregard my previous post, I was distracted, this is the only correct solution

Assuming you've incurred $5000 in bills.
You may not even have to waive as they may deny liability and have the medical apply.

Boss didn't offer to pay? Unless your kid was 100% at fault for doing something crazy, I'd expect the boss to pay. Your boss sounds like a dick.

A buddy of mine had a SpaceWalk/Bounce House at his kid's birthday party. His niece managed to bounce out through the net entryway, landed awkwardly on her knee and broke her femur. It was a pretty big deal, requiring at least one surgery, a lengthy recuperation and a bunch of PT.
Long story short, his homeowner's policy ended up paying the tab. (And there was never another SpaceWalk at any of his kid's birthday parties.)

Just because he is a boss, doesn't mean he's a rich guy that should pay because he's rich. I'm a "boss" and I can't just give someone $5,000.

If it was an accident not caused by the kid, why shouldn't the boss pay? His house, his event, his pool.
If you still think this is nuts, send me your resume. We're having a company pool party next weekend.

You are guaranteed to lose your job within one year of doing this if you do it. Don't go down this road man. Assuming you make $40k or more a year, losing all that money vs paying a couple k for your kid's leg is a huge loss for you. Don't lose your job over a broken leg. Every kid breaks their leg once. Just pay for it and move on

We had one of those moon bounce things for my little brother when he turned like 5. He jumped clean out, broke his leg.
His little arse went to the hospital, go it all wrapped up in a cast, and got his arse back in the moon bounce.
My broke dick arse parents also footed the bill instead of driving up insurance rates for everyone else because you feel entitled.
