So my child broke their leg on an infalteable waterslide during an event at the boss' house recently which required surgery. Not even considering any legal action but am curious as to people's thoughts about filing a claim against their homeowner's insurance to recoop some cost of medical bills. I have read that most insurance policies can pay anywhere from $1k to $5 for medical. For the non-OT ballers out there, would you consider doing this or just suck it up and pay? And if so, being that it happened on an inflateable waterslide, is it something they would even cover?

was it due to some fault of their property, such as a cracked sidewalk, hazerdous tree roots etc? If your kid was simply sliding and broke her leg, then no, you have no case.

I would not. That's got to be chalked up to "shitty luck".

You should kick your boss's arse first. Then you should bang his old lady and any daughters he as of legal age. Then call the cops to come kill his dog. After that take a giant shite on his front door step. Finally pour salt on his lawn to spell out the words "frick you", make sure it's as close to the center of the front lawn as possible and the letters are at least 6' in length. Then, and only then, you call his insurance.

I'm sure your boss is already shitting a brick about this. Being cool about it could further your career immensely.

So, you're going to put your job at risk for as little as $1,000.

I'm been honest here, I don't even have insurance. But I would never try to pull some bullshite like that. That's what's wrong with this country. You just try to blame somebody else, let somebody else pick up the slack, let somebody else deal with it, let somebody else pay for it. It ain't your boss problem it's your kid, now you be that kids dad and take responsibility. Quit lookin for somebody else to take care of it.

Sounds like it happened through no fault of the home owner.

Suck it up and move along.

Blackmail your boss to get a big raise. If he refuses, sue his arse!

Really?

Kids break bones when they're playing sometimes. It's part of being a kid. Pay it and move on.

Or, he'll look at you as the ultimate suckup. Or he'll resent that you're holding something over you and fire you as soon as the statute of limitations runs out.

The only solution is challenge him to a duel.

probably should let that run it's natural course, if you're not out of pocket a huge amount and it's company provided insurance I'd let it be, there's a good chance that the boss will approach you as the claims come in and offer to reimburse out of pocket, my wife lost an expensive piece out of her engagement ring at work last week, didn't really make a big deal out of it, just showed it to a co-worker, it somehow got back to the boss(owner,) and he told her to give it to him, their company has a jeweler on retainer, and he's taking care of it, your situation requires possible oop expense, and showing how you handle minor crises to the boss v. looking like a whiny, victimized beeyotch, what if the accident happened at your friend Joe Sixpax' house?
