It's crazy how bad they needed the rain...well they got it

Heavy rainfall during Memorial Day weekend across Central Texas, combined with a wetter-than-average year for the region, have water levels at Lake Travis up more than 20 feet since the beginning of the year

I lived in Austin for a couple of years, starting with the miserable heat of 2011. The island in the lake are normal to me, I've never seen it with water. This is weird

Before and afters aren't worth much if they don't use the same angle for both. I get they are close, but would have been better if they were the same.
It was sad to see that lake like that. I remember all the advertisements for Lake Travis back in the day. Wow

They've needed a lot of rain for a loooong time now. It's just very dangerous when it all comes over a span of a few days.

I didn't realize how far below normal it still is, even after all the rain. Crazy to say it, but they need more to break the drought completely.

Thanks for that excellent analysis, John Madden.

This.
Those pics are terrible.

I was thinking the same thing. Terrible pics and annoying as hell the way they have it set up. At least on my iPhone.

The pics don't really do anything because they appear to not be taken at the same spots. I'd say I've learned nothing to the extent of the drought from these pics.

Looks like Mexico.

The pics were taken side by side so you could see one continuous picture in a frame. The left side before, the right side after

You can see Lake Travis from the same angle here...mounted at Oasis...any date and time over the last three years.

They're pretty damn close for the most part. In some pictures, you can see that getting the same angle would have been impossible due to the water levels now.
