Jon Ritzheimer is a former Marine, and he has no middle ground when it comes to Islam.

A T-shirt he wears pretty much says it all: "F--- Islam."

Ritzheimer is the organizer of Friday's "Freedom of Speech Rally" outside the Islamic Community Center in Phoenix.

It's the mosque that Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi attended for a time. They're the men who drove from Arizona to a Dallas suburb to shoot up a Prophet Mohammed cartoon contest there. Both were killed by police early this month.

Many Muslims consider any depiction of Mohammed to be blasphemous and banned by the Islamic holy book, the Quran.

Some 600 people say they're attending.

It's scheduled to start at 6:15 p.m., about the time evening prayers are taking place inside the center. The rally also features its own cartoon contest, similar to the one targeted in Texas.

quote:

"Recently the mosques here in Phoenix actually received threatening letters -- very specific threats, saying that we are going to massacre your congregations," he said.

Ritzheimer anticipates possible problems because of the rally and says people should bring their guns.

"People are also encouraged to utilize (their) second amendment right at this event just (in case) our first amendment comes under the much anticipated attack," the event's Facebook page says.

Bikers will be there too, according to the post.

We've already demonstrated that Islamic fundamentalism can't coexist with free speech.

This is kind of a jerk move, but it's their right and they shouldn't have to worry about terrorism. Curious as to what will happen there.

Arizona is slowly creeping up to Florida as the trashiest state.

As to the OP. I actually liked the "****" argument the guy tried to make on CNN. Basically, everyone has the right to say it, but most tread lightly as to not offend. That said, you have groups like the skin heads and KKK that spew that kind of language and that's their right.

In the end, I won't be attending any draw muhhamed contest, but I support their right to hold it. Just as I support the free speech rights of all groups.

Back to the "****" thing. Do we get upset when we are called honkeys and crackers? Is it edited out on this site? No to both questions. That's because we try to stay above that stuff and don't let it hurt our feelings like these other groups.

Just the place I want to be. A crowd full of idiots toting weapons when someone discharges a weapon on accident.

Does the article mention where you can buy these t-shirts?

Best case scenario will be that the cops set up a specific area for the protesters, barricade off the mosque and are out in force, with SWAT teams and MRAPs in a staging area about a 1/4 mile away.

The end result will be a bunch of hurt feeling, hoarse throats and enormous taxpayer expense.

What will have been accomplished? (Aside from the local police having an incident that justifies their having a fleet of armored vehicles.)
