Never had a bottle. This whole Trappiste Monk deal is interesting as I watch an episode of How Do They Do It?. These monks have soul.

So, worth a turkey (shite), Baws?

Chimay is good. They charge a premium though. They have the Grande Reserve out now. It's pretty damn good.

Chimay Grand Reserve was the beer that opened up my eyes that there was more to beer than an American light lager

I haven't had it in years though, which is a shame

just so many good beers out there these days

Trappist beers take a little getting used too. It's not something I'd recommend for jumping to from bud lite, but once you've had a few good beers, you learn to appreciate the Trappist stuff.

I like the blue label Chimay best. Any of the real Trappist beers are going to be excellent though. They have had a lot of practice over the centuries.

I like it. Price wise it's the same as buying a cheap bottle of wine. I don't get it often, but on a weeknight when the wife and kid are out of town, I usually grab a bottle and a steak and have a little "me time". It's my go to for those occasions.

I love Chimay Blue. It's a great sipping beer. Strong, but tastes smooth.

I'm a fan of chimay premier, but there are other beers that are just as good or better at a better price.

I've gotten into the scotch ales and if interested founders dirty bastard is really good. Founders makes a few good ones

Chimay is ok.

Trappist Rochefort and st. Bernardus are better trappist breweries. They cost between $5 and $8 per bottle.

Unibroue makes some very good trappist style beers like Trois Pistolas and LA Fin du Monde. It is in Canada,so it is less expensive- $2-$4 per bottle.
