The difference between pick 18(where they would've picked) and 7-10 picks later is negilgible. There is A LOT of good prospects at those positions in the late 1st early 2nd where they can buy/acquire without giving up the farm.
If the difference is negligible, the difference in cost of acquiring them would be negligible, too. 18 is certainly crapshoot territory, though.

How do we get a bruiser, what I mean by that is someone who is going to fight along side AD, and not just be a bench player be a defensive specialist with the ability to make shots and hold onto the ball. We get that we set.

I guess we could trade for Pekovic (not advocating for that fyi)

I think Stanley Johnson could fit that Bruiser role being talked about. 6'7 and 240.... Guys built like a tank and is an athletic freak. He's not like aminu in that he already has the NBA size and strength, not just the measurements

I like the idea of trading into the draft but I think your looking at the wrong target.
We go after the Kings pick at 6 and offer Ryno + next year 1st and we draft (in this order)
Winslow
Stanley Johnson
WCS
Winslow and Johnson both look like the next big lock down defenders in the leage and Winslow just has a better offensive game than Johnson at the moment.
WCS would be a perfect partner next to AD and would allow us to remain big and still switch the 1-5.
Or we go after the Pistons 8th pick and try and just trade Ryno +this years second for it. And then go after any of those guys left.
If none are left I think Hollis Jefferson and Henzonja are worth a look as well.

and there's big concerns right now about his feet and ankles.
The Wolves are HOPING to get 20 minutes a night out of him going forward.
I wanted him at first too, until i started looking into him.
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WANT

I don't think Ryno and a late-mid 1st is enough to get you the 6th pick with so many tier 2 players likely to be on the board still.

I would be nice to get the 6-9 pick from any of those 4 teams, but i don't see them doing that for Ryno and a future 1st either.

Yeah I was thinking that it would be a stretch, but I still have hope that SVG (history/great fit next to Drummond) or Divac (hometown ticket sales appeal/history of dumb transactions) will want Ryno.
I think Ryno could land a late first by himself but I don't see any players that are worth that in that range

Judging by Demps' history with draft picks, any picks acquired in a draft day trade would likely be used to acquire another veteran. You could possibly see something like this.
Lakers get Evans
Nuggets get #27 & a future protected pick from the Pels
Pels get W. Chandler & J. Clarkson

What good is a bruiser? You can't play defense in the NBA anymore. And if that's the case, isn't Hibbert a FA this year? Sign and trade for Hibbert with Gordon?

You really want to trade Evans for a late first?
That's a great question.
Unlike a lot of folks on here, I think there's a big market for Evans. If he's on the trading block, it sure as hell won't be for a late 1st rounder (Not to mention that I can't imagine how bad they'd screw that pick up if they had it).

A pick in the late 1st or after is firmly in crapshoot territory and guys that mostly need a year or so.
Saying they'll "screw it up" is kind of dumb when you won't know how good guys in that range will be for a bit. There's no need to speak in absolutes here.
There's nothing wrong with picking a guy to develop in that range that they like(or hell stash them oversea for a year). It's not like a lottery pick.

What would be really dumb is trading Evans for a late 1st round pick.

On it's own yes, and with Holiday's health concerns trading Tyreke for anything seems questionable. But what if it's part of a bigger move? For instance the Pels are one of the team's recently said to have interest in Dragic. Say you trade Tyreke for a 1st which you bundle with Gordon for something. Say Tyreke plus Gordon brings back Dragic and Batum. Not sure if those numbers work out, but just an example of how cap space can add extra value to the equation if you have a line on the right FA.

I don't even need to look at statistics because I watched 75 out of the 82 games this year. Tyreke really improved his 3 point shot and didn't take nearly as many mid-range shots as he used too.
Maybe you should watch harder. He shot a dismal 30% from a career average of 28%. His FG percentage was the same so I doubt he took fewer midranges. The goals didn't shrink, so I'll trust the statistics for very objective stats like 3pt% over you watching.

You'd have to really convince me about dragic.

What's the primary deficiency of all 3 of our combo guards? Finishing at the rim. He's got a career finishing rate of 67.2% within 3 feet. All of our guards are under 60% for their careers and it's even better than the peak years of Tyreke (65.4% in Sac) and Gordon (66.3% when he could dunk). I think Dragic and Holiday would be a pretty good pairing. But considering we don't even have a coach I'm sure these rumors are premature. I was more trying to illustrate why selling low on a player could actually be a good move if it allows another high value move.

He can't play defense/nearly 30 and will cost 15+ mil a year.
Unless it's a gentry type offense(or maybe atkinson) it's a hard sell given that you'd have to move other parts around.

We're talking about replacing Tyreke and Gordon. Also, if you are able to pull in a 3 and D wing like Batum or even Wilson Chandler, you'd almost always be able to hide him on the 3rd worst perimeter player.

nearly 30
This is the biggest negative about him.

I agree, but Gentry was his head coach his 1st 2 years in the league, so if Gentry does end up being the coach that changes things, both from his desirability to the team and probably his willingness to consider coming here.
ETA: Just realized Dragic is going to be a $20 million max player, not a $15 million max player and that's a deal breaker. Not only is that a lot of cap space long term, it makes you give up too much in the short term, because just like going after DeAndre Jordan you have to give up 2 starters to create the cap space and also give up exceptions that let you keep bench guys like Ajinca and Cunningham.
