It's ok, I don't think Jimmy Smith will mind you telling us

What was the event? Was it for new season ticket holders?

It was a Meet and Greet for Buddy Heild for existing STH who haven't renewed yet.

Another random thing, we saw Darren Erman in there and my ticket rep was talking to us about how he's either always working or going out with these super hot women haha says he always leaves tickets in the box office for these smoking hot chicks. Ermans a playa, but with his paycheck I could be too haha

Little more from the event, I was there.

Dell said Quincy could either be back for all preseason games or miss up to 15 games to start the season. It all depends on how he reacts to today's workouts. He wasn't suppose to be able to go through them for another few weeks but he progressed quickly and they'll just monitor how his body responds the next few days.

Funny story about Solomon Hill. Dell was really big on him coming out of college but we didn't have a pick that year. But Dell still wanted him to work out for them but his agent kept saying no you don't have a pick. Well Dell eventually just got on a plane and met Hill in LAX airport for a quick hour interview before Hill was going to work out for the Pacers. The Pacers actually brought him in to guard all the first round pick guys they were evaluating, and Hill had told Dell leaving the meeting that he was gonna be picked 23rd, just watch. Dell said he got a text after hill was drafted from him just saying "told you" haha and he actually only traded into that draft to get the 40th pick because he was planning on taking Hill. He was projected in the 45-50 range and Dell really liked him. But instead we got Russ smith....

Dell also said to expect to see more hard fouls this year haha

Joel Meyers talked about how Asik and Ajinca are both fighting for the starting spot and Asik is in really good shape and will surprise us this year.

Buddy was really cool, seemed like a genuinely nice guy. Was really good with the little kids. He had actually come in early to this just to get shots up. We couldn't go in for a little while cause they had to get him and his reggae off the court haha

Take what Dell and Joel said what it's worth, PR. But still cool to get the stories and information, especially in the dead zone of NBA news.

I could see that. Hope it's my way but it reads closer to yours. Would be a nice chunk of change

If an insured player is disabled, there is a 41 game waiting period, after which the insurance company pays 80% of the guaranteed portion of the player's remaining base salary, up to $175,000 per regular season game. The waiting period can span seasons, and the player even can attempt to come back -- if he does and finds that he is unable to play, the 41-game count resumes (as long as he stopped playing due to the same injury).

the 41-game count resumes

That to me means they're counting the past games. It implies that they start paying at the beginning of an injury just so long as it is > 40 games.

Evans will not play another meaningful minute for this franchise ever again. People need to take him out of their rotations and projections. Either he never plays for them again, period. Or he plays in a couple of games in December and Jan to show teams he is okay. That's it. Only two possibilities Will never play a meaningful full minute again

:(

Reke was one of my favorite players. Sad thing to hear. Oh well, onward and upward!
I think it all depends on Heilds development. If he can be a good distributor then just the 3-D wing will be fine, but if he is a pure scorer that only gets a couple assists a game then we will for sure need that playmaking wing. Heres hoping that buddy blossoms.
Jrue ($1)
Butler ($4)
Paul George ($4)
AD ($5)
Tristan Thompson ($1)

....you really haven't watched much Pels the last three seasons have you? It's ridiculous the timing of injuries.

Plus just to pat my own back I wanted Diallo back in December

Pining for Diallo

And I've been riding for Buddy since January so I'm very happy with this draft right now lol

Yeah I like Diallo too, think he could be a solid hustle player. Like a Tristan Thompson

Valentine would be incredibly lucky and I would love it. I'm A big fan of his passing abilities and think AD would benefit a lot.

Gary Payton II I like a lot, I think he can be a good bench type PG/wing defender like a Delly or Beverly type of player.

I'd take Plumlee too, all his brothers are rotation bigs in the league, can't hurt to take a flyer on the family gene pool. We could use a cheap high energy center.
Only problem I have with that is the fact that next years draft class has been talked about for the past 3 years. It's suppose to be absolutely stacked with talent. I'd do a 2018 first but 2017 would need to be a good haul for me to be ok with giving it up
Imagine if Minny Traded #5 for Okafor. Put towns at the 4 on O and 5 on D and that could be a hell of a team. A good zag type of move if Thibs wanted to go that way.

Rubio
Lavine
Wiggins
Towns
Okafor

After a year or two of Thibs coaching, that lineup will frick the rest of the league in the arse

The west is just gonna get better and better.
Am I the only one who thinks, barring another catastrophic injury year, we could make the playoffs with Buddy or Dunn instead of Gordon and a no defense black hole on offense getting major minutes?

We have some solid young contributors in Frazier, BDJ and maybe Ennis to help our bench out. Plus Dante and the new rookie. A healthy Quincy is a much better player than Gee. Maybe we finally start jrue and Tyreke together and all those advanced stats that love that duo come true. Maybe a healthy training camp shows us what we were hoping for last year. Nash and Amare level of pace and offense. And the defense improved to 22nd overall, Erman usually has his defense improve greatly the second season he is there.

We had so many injuries to start the year I don't think you can truly say what we could be.

To me this roster is better than when we won 45 games and made the playoffs
Jrue/Frazier
Tyreke/Heild/BDJ
Quincy/Crabbe/Ennis
AD/Dante/Free Agent
Asik/Ajinca/Perk

I'm an eternal optimist and I don't think it's crazy for this team next year to be the 6-8 seed with 45-50 wins.

re: Are Denzel Valentine or Luwawu in play?

Posted by sma19 on 5/17/16 at 8:32 pm to
Reaching for Valentine wouldn't upset me too much. Love him as a player but wish they would trade down if they want him.

Simmons hands down for me.

My logic is this

We have arguably the best finisher in the league. AD can hit shots from all over the floor in a variety of ways but struggles to create for himself. We would have the opportunity to put a 1B next to our 1A who's elite skill is passing.

Throughs the leagues history, the best big man had amazing set up men. Kareem had Oscar and Magic, Malone had Stockton, Dirk had Nash and Kidd, etc.

If we have a choice we need our 1B superstar player to be a player that sets up AD for the game winning shots we know he can make, not a player that's gonna take them from him. So that's why I choose Simmons over Ingram.

re: We get the 3rd pick in the draft

I'm going Heild

I know a lot of people knock his athleticism and measurables but I truly think he will be a star player in this league. He has an already elite skill in shooting, he has a high basketball IQ and is a known leader. He builds a teams chemistry. He will work himself to the bone for the team and has massive fricking balls in the end of games with a successful record to show for it. I'd love to have him around AD going forward.

Plus he's a big trash talker and I love that.
