Most zoo animals get treated like shite and most zoos have a vet on staff that can't get a job at a clinic.
Thats exactly my point. Mike gets treated very well and they are talking about getting rid of him as if we torture him...

He gets treated better than zoo animals, so why arent people petitioning to free zoo animals instead of Mike, who lives the life if you ask me.

The weekly "Fire Mike's vet!" threads are just full of dumbass.

Thanks for reminding me... I need to start another one of those pretty soon.

Yeah I'm sure you'd rather be locked in a cage than out chasing arse and prey.

If we let Mike into the wild he would die in less than a month.

Tigers born in captivity can't survive in the wild without MAJOR rehabilitation

People keep their own overgrown pets locked up cages all the time. Mike is treated like a king. Tony on the other hand... that cat needs a new home.

Your point?

Can someone please answer, why does Mike actually exist as LSU's mascot? Why does any school need or even want a live mascot?

I"m asking this as someone who's school did not have a live mascot.

Mike has it made. All the times I try to see him, he's always sleeping.

That big cat wouldn't make it in the jungle.

Well, no one asked Mike and I doubt Mike cares about your opinion of his living situation.

LSU is the Tigers...so we have a fricking tiger. Guy has people tending to his every need, never has to worry about a meal, never has to worry about poachers, never has to worry about any predators. For fricks sake....

Sadly, this was kinda the answer I was expecting.

Plenty of schools have an animal mascot without having an actual live mascot.

Mike could use a female companion. But not a long term one; he'd be better off getting conjugal visits from all the female tigers in the area

Why are you so upset about this? It's basically a pet we treat better than any pet in the country.

I'm not upset. Just trying to get answers that no one wants to give.

Most pets aren't "typically" wild, though.

The school hasn't done anything wrong. No one needs to answer stupid questions. The tiger lives a lavish life by any animals' means, and he enjoys himself. And before you ask the dumbass question I know you are going to ask, "have you talked to Mike, how do you know he is happy?" The animals mannerisms speak for themselves. He is a playful tiger who is fed properly. Eating and expending energy are the only things he cares about, and he gets his fill. Quit trolling.
