Come on you going to say that if any kid playing a college sport comes up to you and says look I can present you with these exact same grades with a different major on top if the paper and I am eligible you wouldn't allow it?

Great news, good for him

RUKidding, it was not only LSU who "saw it this way". According to CPM, both the SEC & NCAA offices agreed, immediately. Unless you feel CPM is a complete fake, the way he handled this initially shows just how straight he played this. He could have legally allowed Foster to play the whole Mizzo series, as grades weren't final till the following Monday. This is a 20-21 year old college kid who apparently made a D instead of a C in a class; he did not rape anyone, beat up anyone, do drugs, steal crab legs. He made a low grade. Good Lord.

Still kind of underwhelming that he didn't take care of his business, but he admits that himself. I'm sure it'll serve as a wake up call later.

Ok I am a little behind on all of this. All I know is that he won the appeal. What were the exact findings of the appeal?

Great news indeed. Glad the Tigers will be at full strength in Post Season play. We are going to need it down the stretch.
This whole situation should have been avoided. If he could have applied this reported "D" course which was part of his major course of study to a course of study outside of his declared major, he should have been advised to do so and thus avoid LSU (the institution) from declaring him ineligible. Could have avoided a lot of bad press for this young man and LSU.
The NCAA doesn't declare athletes ineligible, the institution (LSU) does. Page one, sentence one of the NCAA Div 1 Bylaw, Article 14 Academic Eligibility :
14.01 General Principles.
14.01.1 Institutional Responsibility. An institution shall not permit a student-athlete to represent it in
intercollegiate athletics competition unless the student-athlete meets all applicable eligibility requirements, and
the institution has certified the student-athlete’s eligibility.
Sounds like compliance needs to get on the ball and get the rules straight before declaring their athletes ineligible.

You should have conducted your research and posted this before you implied in your other threads that LSU was corrupt in "fixing" a failing grade for their star. Facts do matter.

You are correct sir. I sure hope this does not send the wrong message to present and future athletes.
It's OK to make a "D", we will figure out away to keep you in the game.

Lol he has a C not a D! This poor kid can't win for losing! The appeal process corrected that.

That wasn't the point I was trying to make at all. Continue your looniness without involving me.

He still has the grade he was given the appeal process showed that he was still eligible.
EDIT: Just heard Hanagriff say on the radio that the grade was also appealed and raised.
