If Notre Dame joins in football, they should invite UCONN. It's not like there are better football programs out there and they bring the most to the table in everything else.

Wouldn't surprise me if Notre Dame wanted to bring in Navy with them as a football only member

ND is never going to join a conference for football. They have no reason to. Unfortunately they will always get the white glove treatment as an independent.

Yep. UConn is a good geographic fit, has a history with some of the current ACC members, and the ACC is a basketball conference first.

Plus they bring the perpetual BSPN love to the table.

We just left CUSA last year for the AAC.

-Cincinnati to Big 12 is too easy.

-For some reason, I've thought for a few years now that Old Dominion would be a good fit in the American if that conference is forced to expand again. It's a much, much bigger TV market than people realize, and their football and basketball programs have been solid for awhile.

-I can't see this independent thing working out for BYU.

-Eventually, Boise State has to get brought into a big conference, right?

Only div 1. No Liberty moving up stuff. Cincinnatti to Big 12?

Well there was a thread a few days ago that said C-USA was not going to change their rules and allow UAB to stay in without football. So unless they bring football back, I would expect C-USA to add another team and the contenders are:
Georgia State
USA
UL-L
Arky State
JMU
Liberty
Georgia Southern

I expect them to add Georgia State because they add the largest media market in the south in which they do not have a team in. They are also going to turn Turner Field and its parking lots into a an athletic campus so they should have decent facilites in a few years and they have a decent bball program.

I know C-USA's bylaws don't allow a school without a football program, but will they allow a football program without a school?

I just don't see how the Big 12 is going to survive long-term. It feels inevitable Texas is going to go independent at some point, but then again I suppose SMU could attempt to fill the void. OU would probably leave the second Texas does, but I think Oklahoma State is stuck with the other midwestern teams

Good move for NKU. They have certainly moved up in a very short amount of time

If I was SMU I'd be trying to get in the Big 12. They have room and if they were let back in, it would almost be a reborn SWC without Arkansas.

The poor Big 8...the SWC infiltrated the once proud Big 8 and has basically eaten it alive from within and if they bring in SMU, they will effectively have reformed the SWC and eradicated the Big 8. Luckily most of us escaped but I feel bad for Iowa State :/

Why? Mountain West isn't a bad conference by any means.
