I saw this thread when looking at the rankings of 116 IPAs.

Session IPA's

I'm over these for sure. Good idea but rarely executed well. I'd rather just have a good Pale Ale or regular IPA.

Session IPAs are the only IPAs I actually enjoy. Crafters will always care about big beer while denying it and they will actually care that someone drinks it.

macrobreweries are making these statements because they’re starting to hurt from the growing popularity of that craft beer. Isn’t that enough satisfaction?

Eh, if a company that was literally 16,000 times larger than mine was calling me a chode and my product crap because they felt threatened, then you better believe I'd play it up to my advantage to sell more product.

IPAs and Vienna lagers—are being bottled and waxed

I have never seen this. Anyone have an example?

I agree with the sentiment, though. Waxed bottles are annoying.

The objection to adjuncts was pretty dumb.

Totally disagree with the Session and Adjunct. The other 2 I don't care about.

If the "vast majority" (their statement) of Session IPAs are no good, what about the ones that are?

I like the adjunct trend. Why stifle creativity. The market will dictate what lasts. (Although a lot of people only want a free market when it suits them-small craft brewers included).

I am not over session ipas.

I love drinking 12 easy jacks on a kayak trip.

Glad they touched on the waxing. I can see if it's this big barrel aged anniversary off shoot but there is no reason to wax something like TR's Ivan stout or even the Bombs! or WnB series.

Just annoying and a pain in the arse to open.

I've yet to have a Session IPA I would buy again, including Pinner. Maybe I just like more malt flavor WITH my hops.

As long as the popularity stays with the IPA's and leaves my stouts and porters on the back burner with a couple of special releases every so often, I'm fine.

Session IPA's make me mad because my uneducated GF who likes to have me beer when I go over to her place isn't quite to the point where she can pick out the difference in an IPA (my favorite) and a Session IPA (not my favorite).

Also, if I want a session IPA, put it in a can because I'm drinking it by a pool, at a tailgate or elsewhere on the run where glass isn't allowed.
