Got dammit, Valve will let HL1 get remastered but no HL3!

That's been in the works for years, and Valve has nothing to do with it.

They have something to do with it or it would not get made.

They have zero resources dedicated to a HL1 remaster.

So when will Gaben be suing them for making it?

What the hell is going on here?

Waiting for Old Blood to finish downloading.

I wouldn't expect a faux rage thread like this from you.

How is the game? I really enjoyed New Order despite a few times where the game made me rage.

HL3 is going to flop so bad relative to the stupid levels of hype.

It don't want to say it will be tGOAT, I have faith that it will still be a great game regardless of the hype. I just want the story finished.

Half Life
One of the GOAT.
Half Life 3
Will never happen.
ETA: I played something called Black Mesa a few years ago. If I remember correctly, it was free. They updated the graphics in HL1, but it was only a portion of HL1, not the entire game.

They only recently gave it their official endorsement.
In fact, early on in the project, they asked them to modify the format of the original title to avoid implications that it was officially sanctioned.
Valve is not developing it.

Hell, forget HL3....why did they just trail off of their announced plans to release episode three back in what....2007?
Whatever the reason for the dragging feet begins there.
When they went from saying short episodic content would be released every six months, to giving Episode three a release date, to saying that episode three would be the last episodic content to.....nothing but a stonewall.
I think they lost interest internally and have no where meaningful to go with the story/game. They have always made clear they wouldn't cash in on HL and start churning out sequels.

Episode 2 stopped with Gordon and Alyx planning to close the Combine portal. The next story would be them closing the portal or not. One more episode could've wrapped up that story easily. If Valve was not going to follow through on that story arc then they should've just stopped at the end of HL2

I played through this nearly 3 years ago when it was free. I don't know if that version is still out there, but I'd try to find it. It was great and the only thing it was missing was Xen, which I didn't care about anyway.
If you are interested in returning to HL1, definitely give it a shot. But as others have said, it's not being developed by Valve. It was originally titled "Black Mesa Source" but Valve made them remove the "Source" from the title because they didn't want anyone confusing it with an actual Valve product. They're obviously cool with it existing but they didn't work on it.
ETA: You can still download the earlier version here.

I have said this many times, Half Life 3 doesn't show up until the next Source engine shows up.

HL2 lived up to it and then some, and there was so much shite that happened surrounding the release of that game that it still amazes me what Valve pulled off.
