I don't have the answer, but bikers need to be more than careful. Personally I wouldn't do what they do.
When the wife was training for the ironman she needed a place to do long rides or connect her to river road south of Lauberge so she'd hop on the shoulder of Nicholson and ride opposite of traffic so she could see if she needed to ditch the bike. Of course, she was doing this in full daylight too.

Are you saying it is a death wish to own a motorcycle?
Of course not.
It's only death wish if you ride it.

Good job. Admitting it is the first step.

you sound like a bitch torrey

She would only do that on the full-lane shoulder of Nicholson.

still
cyclist want to use the roads, they need to obey traffic laws
just not pick and choose when we want to obey the laws by convenience

I could get used to it actually. Been pretty fun

The bicyclists are idiots. I'm not gonna walk through a room with machine guns shooting and not expect to get hit. It's called personal responsibility
I used to ride bikes a minimum of two hours a day. I never had any problems because I'm not stupid enough to ride where cars are going 2-3x faster than me only a couple feet away.
$20 says the khaki shorts wearing red Frontier driver taught them a lesson, and they won't be riding on main thoroughfares at night anymore

Nice victim blaming.
Sorry. It's a risky activity. When you take unnecessary risks, don't be be shocked at criticism.

I could kill another person if I don't pay attention while driving down Nicholson. It is only two lanes! I can kill another driver in a car if I do not pay attention.
Sure, except that risk of that event occurring is much less because passengers in a car are much more visible and much more protected on the road at night.

It's a lot riskier of an activity that driving a car. And again, motorcycles are capable of moving at the speed of traffic and are much more visible at night when compared to cyclists.

She has more guts than I have.

Please tell her that is an incredibly dumb idea as well as being illegal.

Some do this, pick and choose which laws to follow.
Personally I think highways should have a min and a max speed ala the interstate.
If you can't go 40 in a 55 mph zone you are on the wrong road for instance.

She's a full lane off the road. If she's riding in the lane of vehicle travel she's going with the flow of traffic.
I hope you can understand why she would do this on that stretch of road only.

I understand why
I'm just anal about obeying all the laws of the road while I'm on my bike. I know how many shitty cyclists are out there, so when I'm riding, I feel the need to be Mr. Perfect Cyclists so maybe someone will think "hey look, a good cyclists, maybe they aren't all that bad"

That stretch is the only exception. Outside of that she's on neighborhood roads, river road south of Lauberge, or the levee/bike paths around the lake.
