Why do people donate?

ESPN showed everything from tiddlywinks to Australian rules football before landing college football in 1984. Just keepin' with their roots, I'd say.
This.
Early ESPN showed every little sport imaginable - and none of them that you cared about. It was pretty funny watching Llama races in Arentina or something like that.

The person running the stream will usually read a short message from anyone who donates or answer a question they ask or something. That and the idea that they are helping out someone they look up to.
I don't really get it, but those a lot of the reasons

There is currently video games with play by play commentary on ESPN2, wtf is this crap.
That is crap. If they were smart they'd be showing some rugby this time of year. After all the World Cup is in just a few months.

That makes some sense, at least there is some personal interaction. The thought of some 12 year old kid donating his allowance to a grown gamer making a salary off of it depresses me a bit.

One involves girls showing titties. The other involves men who have titties.

Both involves men with titties throwing money away.
Plus a lot of the more successful game streamers are chicks.

yea cause most gamers are fat and ugly so if a chick plays games, she's their angel

It's like you idiots forget that ENTERTAINMENT is in the name.
That being said, ESports are up and coming. It's a shame that weren't being this closely followed in my heyday (Unreal Tournament/Medal Of Honor Allied Assault) but better late than never.

I'm not butt hurt at all, I just find it comical that
A) Apparently nobody watches ESPN on this board anymore, but there is at least 3 threads a day crying about their programming.
B) The station literally has Entertainment in the title of it's name. I can understand arguments that video games aren't sports, though I think they are, but that debate doesn't even matter in the original argument because ENTERTAINMENT.

Or they could devote more time for analysis of the NHL playoffs. This is a very busy time of year for sports with the NBA playoffs, NHL playoffs, MLB regular season, Champions League Soccer, Kentucky Derby and oh yeah arguably the biggest of the ESPN era in Mayweather - Pacquiao. It makes no sense why time is being spent airing this crap.

Some of these guys make over million a year in sponsorship, ad revenue from streaming, and prize winnings.

ESPN lost its mind around 2004 when they started making a big deal about the World Series of Poker.

It pretty much is. A bunch of popular female streamers are famous for their cleavage cams.
