Just because you are/were in the military doesn't give you valor. So there are real veterans who are stealing valor because they didn't do anything while wearing a legit uniform.

Had something similar happen to me at a Lowes a few years back. Had a retaining wall I was repairing and needed some supplies. Had jeans on, boots, a cotton tee... Normal working attire.
Guy walks up and asks what I had on my low boy. Point out the mortar bags, a bonding agent and a new jointer. At this point he's not even listening to my words, he's just staring at me. Crazy eyes.
Asks what I do for a living, I tell him. This is where things got heated. He says "you're not a brick mason"? Umm, no I reply. "So what's with the shite on your cart? You're doing some brick work?". I step back and answer that I was... Asked him what the hell his problem was and why the third degree.
Blasts me for doing this by myself and not hiring someone in the brotherhood to do my masonry. That men work for years to hone their skills and deserve to feed their family with the blood, sweat and toil I can't possibly know anything about. I'm like what the frick?
Ask him to kindly stop yelling, that all I'm trying to do is get my shite, go home and do a little brick repair work.
Tells me to go frick myself. I'm a piece of shite and how dare I Steal Trowelor from him and the masons that had gone before him.

I thinks it is funny when the guy with the camera builds up to "you are committing a federal offense."
It's only a crime if you get something of value for it. Anyone is free to walk down the street in a uniform claiming to be an Air Force SEAL and Navy Ranger.
