I did think it was interesting that the car comes with a tablet for an owners manual with interactive content rather than the typical paper bound book. I'll have to look it up but it's possible that it's even in iPad.

I know someone who got a Equus upgrading from a 7 series. They said while it wasn't quite to 7 series standards, the cheaper price tag makes it the better choice by far.

Guy has also had a corvette and Porsche while I've known him. He knows luxury cars

I'm not saying it's a large market but there are old people who won't buy Japanese because of WWII but will buy South Korean. I only know of this group because my dad is a member; he could be the only one.

I had a car service while on a recent trip to Bahrain and all they had was 7 Series and Equus in their "fleet". My driver had the Equus every day until the last day when I was being driven to the airport. I can't believe I'd ever say this but I enjoyed the Equus more. It was more comfortable and I had more room. Also, I could control damned near everything from the backseat.

I would definitely consider it if I was in the market for that kind of car.

If in 6 years, a guy has purchased the Korean luxury car, BMW 7 series, Porsche Cayenne and a Corvette, he probably knows top end cars better than your average joe

Without the $30k price difference being the leading factor, I doubt this thing could actually compete for someone's dollar with the an S, 7, or A8. I'd buy a 5 series or E class before this thing all day every day price being equal. The engineering poured into that level of German cars over the last 35-40 years is just too much to overcome, they will continue to lead both classes.

The new hyundai genesis v 8 car is better looking than this one. Looks like a luxury car with a hefty 50 k plus price tag

I had a great uncle who survived the Battan Death March.

He fit this category. Only bought American.

My pops did Okinawa, then went in with the Occupation forces and stayed in Japan from '45-'47.
He was the first on our street to go to Toyota in the early '70s because our 1970 Cadillac was a total piece of shite.
American POWs rightfully hated the Japanese.

OP: Hyundai Equus, I could stand it. I have two friends with them and both are positive-minded about them.

thats a hell of a factor to overcome. Everything I've heard about Hyundai has been positive. Can't say the same for the 7 series, S class or A8. I'd be interested in all of them if I didn't require a truck for my activities.

I could NOT stand our Camry, that thing drove like a total POS. My mom had a Delta 88 Olds when I was growing up and I swear that thing drove better than the Camry. I see the car in the OP and immediately think body roll.

No, not enough. If I couldn't afford a new 7 series or S class I'd buy one I could afford CPOed. I wouldn't buy that sized car though, the class below them is big enough for my family.

Hyundai cars have come a loooonnnnng way.

And they still have a long, long way to go. I know two people with late model Hyundai Genesis(s) and both of them complain that their cars are falling apart after just a few years.

Hyundai is also one of the top 10 worst brands for dependability according to this:

The last time I looked at a CPOed 7 series, I was shocked at what they get for them. Then again, I'm shocked at what pick up trucks bring now

I guess I'm getting old, because the thought of depreciation on any vehicle is starting to really bother me and effect my decision making.

It's basically the Korean Toyota Crown. It looks nice and fancy, but it's a Hyundai underneath it all.....with Hyundai dealerships backing Hyundai cars with Hyundai electronics.

Get used to driving the loaner Sonata and catastrophic resale value.

I have a buddy - a helicopter pilot, mind you, (AH-64 Apaches), who ONLY drives Kia.

He loves them. Obviously, he knows technology and maintenance.
