Bald Eagle Shot in NWLA

My good friend's family has a plantation next to the property where the bird was found. He was telling me about it this weekend.
Federal agents pulled up to his house and questioned him because someone informed them that the deer stands on the adjoining property were his. I guess they have to start somewhere, but it's BS in my opinion he was questioned only because he and his son hunt property next to where this occurred.
He said after talking with the agents he called the land owner who owned the property where the bird was found and asked why he gave them his name. The landowner told him the feds #1 thing they wanted was a list of everyone he knew that hunted around him.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries are seeking information on the shooting of a bald eagle that was found near Cavett River Road in Gilliam.

Not Sure why he was mad about the Feds coming to talk to him. I would want to help in any way possible.

Polar Pop and I saw 2 on Toledo 2 weekends ago.
As to my BS comment about the feds questioning the guy. I feel like they are targeting people only because they hunt. Isn't it more likely someone from the river where this property backs up to shot it and took off as opposed to someone who owns and actually takes care of the property near where the bird was found.

I would imagine that the first thing detectives do in any sort of criminal investigation is question the people that live/work/play in the nearby vicinity. Him being mad about it just makes it look like he has something to hide.

Or he couldve just said he had nothing to do with it and went about his day.

Because you have the right to remain silent.
What if he said, "I was out there that day, but I didn't hear anyone shoot."
Just trying to be helpful he has now placed himself at the scene of the crime. Up the suspect list he goes...

he does
but I would think the first thing the Feds would do is go talk the adjoining property owners
just seems like the logical next step
were they dicks or something? I don't get why anyone would be mad otherwise

For the record, I never said "He was mad".
I'm just relaying the story he told me. I got on my don't say shite rant once he said he agreed to talk with them.

They are all over Toledo.
Saw one at Cotile for the first time a few weeks ago. They are really all over the place now.

Yeah, all CENLA major water bodies have them. Even Red/Buhlow area.

Common sense. Obviously they are going to talk to the land owners and adjacent land owners.

And another thing...
You know this was a tapped phone conversation...
I get the be helpful if you don't have anything to hide, but the feds mode of operation is what irks me. We used to have rights to privacy in this country.
