LSU likes to put students in cages and poke them with sharp bamboo poles. Tulane will be much more pleasant. Go to Tulane unless you want to be a plaintiff lawyer and litagate. LSU grads come out like twitchy pit bulls and will stomp the nuts off of most lawyers, but only in litagation. For transactional work they are not as good as Tulane.

Also the network of LSU grads who spent three years in the suck is unbreakable. They can be a Band of Brothers that will lie cheat and steal, to help each other, judges, lawyers, clerks, Supreme Court Justices, whatever.

don't know why this is so funny

I honestly had no idea there was such a thing as "transactional work" until I graduated from LSU and moved to Houston.

Well, I went to school up here, so I think I was the only person from Louisiana in the whole school.

The budget cuts could be significant. Some of my professors at LSU have mentioned it and there's obiously concern amongst the faculty. Things to be cut will be traveling moot court teams, free lunches during presentations, etc I've been told.

that's well over double the TLS tuition from my first year there. Holy shite. I'm either old or tuition inflation is OOC (or both--yeah, both).

From a friend that's a 1L at Tulane law on a full ride "I wish I would've gone to LSU if I wasn't near the top of the class I'd try to transfer. I'm one of only 5 people in the class from Louisiana. given that the "one of only 5" thing is an abject falsehood, I would also question the other assertions (near top of class, and full ride).

Louisiana students had a clear plurality in my class, and I seriously doubt that has changed significantly since I graduated. I had awesome friends there from Louisiana, elsewhere in the south, out west, midwest, NE, and abroad. There were plenty of d-bags, as there are anywhere, but they were a small %.

maybe your friend is a dipshit the pleasant students avoid?

My point is the hiring partners come together at Kean Miller, 4 out of the 6 are LSU grads. Two applicants who are both great apply. One is an LSU grad, one is a Tulane. The LSU will get hired. But like I said, she will be fine with either school

People in practice aren't typically as beholden to their school as you may think. Especially in La. between Tulane and LSU Law. Way more often than not, all other things being equal, the choice there will come down to who they simply like, with very little condideration of the two schools.

In other words, go where you think you will be most comfortable.

I had offers from both schools too decades ago. Here is correct question.

Where do you wish to practice law?

Out of state: Tulane
In State: LSU

LSU will give you 5-10 times the connections with other Louisiana lawyers which is worth twice the cost of the degree. If you want to go to East Coast or pursue an LLM then Tulane may be a better choice.

LSU if you want to practice in Louisiana for all the reasons listed above.

All are true. I don't know when you graduated from Tulane law but most students these days choose less debt over attending somewhere with just a little bit more recognition. Especially students like myself who want to practice in Louisiana I'd rather attend LSU with a lot less debt than attend Tulane. Op has full ride though but I'd bet most Louisiana students aren't getting full rides.

Tulane isn't worth the cost it close to it but if it's free that's obviously not a factor. I also don't think it's as good of a school eiher academically it in terms of the student body being fun, friendly as in a lot more of the intangibles are a benefit at LSU. Having said that since it's free Id go to Tulane for a few reasons

1. Academically it is good, by saying LSU is better I don't mean Tulane isn't a good law school. It is

2. Tulane is well respected academically in Louisiana even though anyone wih any sense in our state knows LSU is better. Point is in Lousiana you won't be at a disadvantage at all.

3. Though mistaken, the perception and national rankings have Tulane far ahead of LSU academically. Perception is reality and he perception is there is a large gap. So you will be at a better advantage nationally if you have he opportunity or must move away.

4. He only bad think IMO is nola. It's a shithole and the local uptown community that runs the city is ignorant, arrogant and snobbish with no reason to be. However some people think of nola as a plus. I don't and don't see how any rational person can. However, even you agree with me LSU and BTR are right up the road. Don't even have to miss any games you'd want to go to except during finals but durin. That time you can't even go if you lived on LSUs campus.

There are a myriad other reasons but if it's free Tulane, it you're paying, then LSU
