But it's his fault we went away from inside out game that worked all first half. He lost the game. Why change what's working?

Oh? I don't know who you are
Anyway Mickey had 12-14 and 6 blocks I can hardly blame him alone for the loss. I also don't know how you blame Johnny for this one

some guards suck at shooting...even FTs
I mean Derek Rose also choked away a National Title at the line.

FT shooting is ALWAYS on the player. There's no special coaching involved or necessary. It's all about desire and the willingness to take countless FTs on your own. You have to WANT to be a good FT shooter. Regardless of the opponent, the defense, etc., the look from the FT lines is always the same

Now you're just being stupid.
You play guard. You shoot free throws better than the 6-9 guy.
That's the fricking metric.
I've already mentioned the intangible of the other team getting the reprieve of fouling the other teams "almost triple double awesome guard" and watching him abuse the back right corner of the rim, keeping the deficit under two possessions.
It's a basketball mulligan that Quarterman provided... Again.
Knock down the easy shot, almost triple double guy.
Ok, in my debate with you I'm bashing Quarterman. Not cool.
But that was the moment.

Jarell played poorly in the second half also. He missed some lay ups he absolutely should've hit, and a couple of free throws.

John Calipari lost a national championship because of poor free throw shooting.

yeah i said in another thread his rim protection was great. he just tried too much hero ball on offense
my singling out was just the very end, because that was painful. the missed FTs, missed close shot, and then D on teh final play
i felt more bad for mickey than i felt anger or anything. he was not mentally sharp/strong at the end and it showed

mickey lost that game
So the Auburn game in the tourney... Same problems, different players. Missed free throws. Missed field goals down the stretch. But it's still not on JJ? It's his team. It's the same problems on a regular basis. He's not fixing it. It's what ultimately ends up costing coaches their jobs- their teams not performing in clutch situations often enough.

vs. adversity, this entire team has a mental issue. Showed when they were down and when any team went on runs

Meh, I mostly remember Rose missing that 2nd FT to put them up 4 with seconds to go, which set the stage for Chalmers.

I think everyone had a significant hand in this loss, although this would be nowhere near the example I'd point to if we're talking about Jones as a bad coach. The free throw shooting and missed shots are not on him at all. However, I think he had a huge hand in:
1) LSU playing terrible defense down the stretch (really much of the second half). NC State put up wide open 3 after wide open 3; they just missed them. They really got whatever shots they wanted down the stretch. This is an ongoing issue with LSU's teams since he has been here.
2) LSU went very conservative with a lot of time left in the game. They ran the shot clock down as low as they could and didn't get into effective offensive sets. I'm not sure that I even disagree with this strategy but LSU definitely played not to lose, tightened up (not Jones' fault), and handed this game away.

You need a bigger sample. Yes, this group as a whole has not shown a lot of mental toughness, but maybe it is just the kids. We are headed in the right direction, and I have a suspicion, guys like Blakeney and Simmons won't be "soft" in that regard. I also think guys like Tim Q and Patterson will become tougher next year.

It's becoming a trait of our team. Especially down the stretch.
