re: Sammich Owner Responds to Reviews

I am very tempted to link the thread in a message to him on Yelp.
Business owners need to take basic social media etiquette and marketing webinars. All of them urge owners to stay off Yelp type sites, and if you MUST respond, they are very particular about how you should go about it.

I don't think he's salvageable. One horrible reply is maybe a bad day. But several...including calling a customer an idiot is just wrong on every level.
And telling people to go to Milk Bar cause they'll give you a sucker shows right there that he knows that Milk Bar serves the same quality food at more reasonable prices, and far better service.
Yeah, I have to agree. The guy needs some anger management counseling.

I honestly don't think he'd care.

I think he would explode based on his other responses. Now, would it change him? Doubtful.
I was looking at yelp. Too bad you can't rate the owner responses on there. I'd have signed up just to do it.
I know one of the people who gave it 4 stars. He's usually on target, but he ordered differently.

3/2/2015 • YOU ARE AN IDIOT!!! The escargot come tossed in a HONEY Jalapeño Beurre Blanc. Honey is sweet! The Lobster has a MANGO butter sauce. Mango is sweet! Most Korean BBQ sauces have Hoisin, Plum, Duck, and Peanut sauces, all of which are SWEET! READ THE FREAKING MENU NEXT TIME and if you have an issue PLEASE bring it to the attention of the manager or owner instead of the faceless forum of Yelp. Oh yeah, as far as the fries.... go to McDonalds, you'll like those better and they're cheaper.
Ok, devils advocate for the owner's response to this review. This review was from an account that has been open for a while, but has zero friends and 3 reviews. 2 of the reviews are 1 star hit pieces. The owner may have felt this was a smear from a competitor.
Just throwing it out there. I still think it's distasteful and poorly choosen language when you're representating a business.

There is nothing which would warrant or justify the owner's response or anything even close to it, in my opinion. I would lose other clients if I responded in that way to something on the web. Losing the reviewer is one thing. Losing others is quite different.

Exactly.
P.S. A good friend of mine told me that was a friend of hers.

If you look on the sammichs Facebook page, there's a recent post along these lines. He calls out some girl for posting another review on yelp and had to contact yelp to take it down, or something

Do it. I'll go there this weekend in my Tigerdroppings shirt.

The only reason to go on Yelp and respond to reviews -- and I mean the ONLY reason -- is if there are significant factual errors. Like someone being way off about the price of a dish, or saying something was frozen or from Sysco when it was fresh or made in-house. And then you say "We only use fresh, never frozen beef in our hamburgers." That's it -- just the facts ma'am, no snark or anger.

But it's clear he doesn't reserve his ridiculous responses just for those people considering I'm Yelp Elite and have over 100 reviews.

I agree, it's not good for business. However, it affects me in no way (short of it eventually going out of business). Which seems somewhat likely.
It's still a nice snack and beer option for me and the owners lack of tact (in this instance) doesn't bother me too much.

His behavior isn't going to offend everyone and people who really like the place may continue to go there even if they've read his responses. His responses, though, do far more damage than a negative review in general. He has 4 stars, for crying out loud.

I'm serious about this guy needing some counseling. People like him fascinate me probably because I can't understand how a business person doesn't see the error in those ways and especially when the hits just keep on coming. One blunder can be bad, but a rash of them is almost sadly comical.

He's calling people out by name on the twitter. Crazy.

someone from TD posted on Yelp. Kosmo Cramer?

Without ever stepping in your restaurant I can say without a shadow of a doubt I will never do so.
The decorum you've shown in your condescending, rude and demeaning comments to (ONLY) the negative reviews on this site show what a petulant individual you truly are. What a disgrace you are to the proud heritage of New Orleans cuisine and Louisiana as a whole.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
Edited to add:
Here are many others who echo my sentiments about your behavior -

Turning into a nice lil case study for an internet PR class.
