The Patriot should be banned - the single most horrendous piece of filth to ever grace the screen of American theaters. It degrades the intelligence. It defiles the righteous. It deflowers the innocence nature of historical mainstream drama.

no Indians? At all? And just the one Frenchman? Okay

Uhhh he killed them all at Ford Wilderness. Weren't you paying attention?

There was a whole fleet of Frenchmen at Yorktown.

Here's a drinking game. Take a shot every time he looks at Aunt Charlotte's tits.

Don't care what you say, the scene where he pretty much kills the entire redcoat platoon with his tomahawk at the beginning is pretty awesome. Got a knife to Heath ledgers throat? Boom headshot. With a tomahawk.

One of my all-time favorite movie scenes. Love this movie - one of Mel's best. It's one of those movies I can't turn off when I catch it flipping through channels.

Its a popcorn movie, can't really be taken seriously.

The movie is pretty bad, but Jason Isaacs is great in it, as usual.

THIS.

Whomever said it had horrible acting is an idiot. We can all agree on this.

I don't think the movie ever claimed to be a documentary. Its a popcorn flick, like someone said.
Its ok.

Get over it, you pretentious snobs.

Don't be mad because a South Carolinian single handily turned the Revolutionary War around for the U.S.

I'd respect the movie more if they have a more accurate portrayal of Francis Marion (who Mel Gibson's character is loosely based on). To completely altar the character of one of the Revolution's most important figures into a family man who runs a plantation with free laborers just to avoid talking about slavery is incredibly disappointing.

The guerrilla war in South Carolina was brutal and many of the people that fought in it for the colonies were not angels. The Patriot could have depicted this accurately (instead of a one-sided good vs. evil story), and it would have been an even better story.

The depiction of Tarleton (Tavington in the movie) was equally as disappointing. Mass murdering an entire village...seriously?

They took a great story and completely screwed it up.

This is my all time favorite Mel Gibson movie. Should be required viewing for high school history courses.

You laugh, but we had a sub during AP US History that played this shite for us in HS No wonder Oklahoma is shutting APUSH down

It's overwraught, wildly inaccurate, melodramatic, over the top, terribly acted dreck. This movie is an utter abortion and is borderline offensive in how it treated a variety of topics.

Offensive? I bet a John Wayne movie would scar you for life.

The only thing that matters is that Heath looked hot in this movie.

RIP Heath

Always had the biggest crush on him, such a waste.

I'm going to call this one a guilty pleasure

The production values are so insanely good

But like many have said its a total piece of shite

And the slow motion, nauseating

Really enjoyed the huge battle scenes. especially the first when Gibson and Heath watch from the mansion....same scene where the guy gets his leg taken off by the cannon ball.
