This is wearing me out. PT was great but we underused him. He was better off being cut. This is a business you freaking pussies

Declining qb equals change in direction. No more drew brees just hiting any receiver or back. We going to run run run and run again.
This move keeps us from signing another guy to learn our system and waisting a pick on a running back that will take a year or two to shine. Its a good move as long as we don't go back to the same predictable play calls.

I completely agree with the OP now that I think about it.

Here's a breakdown of this stupid move:

He went to fricking Bama and he was hurt half of a season 4 years ago and he had that one fumble that one time in 4 years.

To me those are pretty clear reasons why we don't want to pay a young, full of potential, 5 yrd averaging, sure handed, solid blocking, full service running back a cheap contract during the prime of his talent.

The deal is even worse when you consider we just lost our franchise back Pierce Thomas and this Bama fricktard knows all the plays and has chemistry with the team and shows a tremendous amount of passion on the sidelines.

Loomis is an idiot. Saints are done. Trade Brees, sell the team.

I agree 100%

PT was a freaking running back GOD. He was the next coming of Eric Dickerson. He was Emmit Smith reincarnated and we cut him. My life is overrrrrrr

It's not a big contract and the Saints aren't winning shite until Payton convinces himself to run a more balanced offense. I still have my doubts this contract means that but it's a start.

So would you say Stephen Gostowski's $4.59 mil that he will make next year isnt a big contract? It's not that much money

Or are we going to use some context? RBs are a dime a dozen. The draft is full of good prospects who couldve been had cheap. The RB FA market is flooded with talented backs

For a team with numerous holes and who are pinching pennies to get out of cap hell, this move is somewhat questionable. It's nothing against Ingram.

I think they overpaid the guy. He has one good year at the end of his contract. Time will tell, but this could be another Graham deal - dude gets his money and then lays down on the job

You're an idiot

Context? He is 25 and will be making what is tied for 12th with 4 other HBs. And this is BEFORE any other FA backs have been signed so he could fall down the list further.

That's a great deal. He is potentially a top 10 back just hitting his prime making less than he should be.

And we aren't penny pinching. We are making football decisions based on value. While I disagree with the PT move, fact is they were ready to move on last year. We have plenty of ways to make cap (as much as upwards of $20 mil in room if we want based on moves that have been rumored).

Can we stop trying to make this an LSU-Alabama thing and admit that the guy maybe hasn't earned this contract? Taking into account our dire need of a good CB, C, and DE, it just doesn't make sense.

I don't post very often but have felt compelled to post twice today. Free agency hasn't even officially started yet. We haven't even finished the moves we are going to make with cuts/trades/etc. and you would think that the Saints are going to finish 3-13 next year. Signing a HB was on our wishlist this offseason. We just happened to get it done first before there were cuts to free cap space. I'm almost willing to bet that needs with OLB, CB, and O Line will be addressed some time between now and training camp. Have patience people, my goodness.

How has he not earned this contract? If anything, he gave us a sizable hometown discount?

$4 million/year won't stop us from addressing those needs. We don't have a dire need at DE unless we lose Junior.

This allows us to focus on those needs in the draft.

We should go after a corner and possibly a linebacker in free agent. Look to the draft to fix G and C, where very talented players at those positions can be found from round 1 through round 5

I like how Ingram gets literally 1/4 what Lynch gets, and people are like "Whoa! Huge contract!"

It's going to get boring here when people finally get their head out of their arse about Ingram.
