Lunardi has LSU as a 10th seed right now, which should improve after beating Ole Miss...

Looking at the teams in the East, in a perfect world, I feel I would favor LSU over any other team, sans Virginia, but I would love our chances to beat them as a #1 seed over say Kentucky, Arizona or Duke...

We may soon be seeing a similar year to 2006 in about three weeks if Johnny can show more growth as a situational coach, call time outs in a more timely fashion, the key players stay out of early foul trouble, rebound on the defensive end and be able to somehow overcome late game fatigue, due to a lack of frontcourt depth, which undoubtedly will rear it's head especially in the 2nd game of a tournament weekend.

We should of beat Kentucky and should of done so convincingly because we were the better team that night, but for offensive rebounding, fatigue and Johnny still learning how to coach competently in certain situations....

We're thin especially in the front court, which is non-existent after Martin and Mickey, but that may be the only factor from keeping us being a Top 10 team and considered as a true Final Four contender this year. I shutter to think if we could of snagged Rico Gathers, where this team would be right now along with keeping Hickey. I digress....

However, other than the above-mentioned teams, we can play and almost expect to beat anybody else out there, if those previously mentioned drawbacks are minimized significantly....

I like our chances to move on if we get in... And I feel beating Tennessee makes us locks regardless of whatever happens at that point...

Depending on the 1 seed and certain matchups, in the region we end up in, I could see me entering a bracket for money with LSU in the final four and not feel like I'm a homer...

Nasayers can ridicule and scoff at the notion all they want, and we are an inconsistent team, especially against perceived lesser teams, but we good when we good and can beat anyone, believe that!!!

Rico Gathers has some good numbers, but I think Damian Jones would be a better complement to this team if they could have kept him home.

I am not sure Hickey would have adapted to a lesser role with the emergence of Quarterman. Patterson seems to be a better shooter than Hickey .

I love your optimism. I doubt it happens, but if this team continues to peak, I don't think a Final Four is out of the realm of possibility. Much less talented teams have made tournament runs! Why not us? With that said, let's focus on making the tournament first. If we beat both Tennessee and Arkansas, then I'll start getting pretty excited.

This team has been in the game at the end against every opponent this season (unfortunately that also includes some weak teams that LSU should have been better than). Final Four is a BIT audacious, but I think LSU can be a very tough out. Though it doesn't look like it a times, this is a very good defensive team. They give up more points than most because they play much faster than most. Nonetheless, the defensive efficiency numbers don't lie. Musselman deserves a ton of credit for the improvement as he is LSU's "DC" so to speak.

Good defense travels. No reason to think LSU wouldn't contiunue to do so as the season goes on. The biggest concern is, and always has been, this teams situational awareness and decision making. In tight games against great teams you can't let possessions slip away with dumb decisions. Yesterday was a perfect example. LSU had a 10 point lead late with the opportunity to run clock. Instead the jacked up 3 three pointers in a row after only taking around 10 seconds off the shot clock each. The one bright spot was that Jones called a TO to put a stop to it

I can agree with this. We haven't lost a single game by more than 10 points and could have won nearly all the ones we lost

Well at first reading this, I was like....stay off drugs. Then, I saw our resident bitch was shaking her head against you down below....and suddenly, given her disagreement with you....I actually will give you a small chance to be right....based solely on the dumb bitch below disagreeing with you. lol

They wont match is up with UK first off. We could tho have a chance to play gonzaga. Remember they were a one seed a couple years ago and the committee likes these good mid major teams that only lose one or two games as one seeds. I like our chances against gonzaga but anyone else, not so much.

I'd be happy with that in the SEC Tournament.

Okafor would tee off on LSU in the post, it would be bad. Virginia is beatable because they play such a low-scoring type of game...but they've lost 1 game all year and that was to Duke. Let's not just ignore some of our miserable losses.

I love the amount of hate Johnny Jones gets. One week he's awful and we lost because of him, the next we have NBA players and we despite him. K

Love the optimism, but we've beaten 2 tournament teams in a power conference. And now Ole Miss may not even make it if they lose a couple of more games which is possible. We have yet to prove we are world beaters

1. LSU can be bounced in the round of 68 in the 11-11 game, or get to the final four.

2. no bench. 6 guys

3. unmentioned in the OP is guard play that falls short of the standards of NCAA tournament play in the final minutes of games.
Its the worst thing about the team. That spells doom in a close game. Watch the last couple of minutes of the Kentucky game to see what I mean.

LSU can beat Virginia and lose to Virginia A&M - that's just the nature of this team.

However, this is actually one of the most competitive teams I can ever remember at LSU. Not one team has beat us by more than single digits this year so far (which is quite an accomplishment). There are only maybe four other teams this year that can say that. Old Dominion beat us by 9 early in the season, but our 8 losses are by an average of 5 points. So whoever LSU plays, they may win or they may lose, but it will be a game. That's real progress, so I'll take it.

I dunno. We could lose in the first round, or we could make a deep run.

You do have to remember, we matched up well with Kentucky, and that's the overwhelming #1 overall seed. If Martin and Mickey remain consistent, and Quarterman plays at the level he did vs Ole Miss, this team can beat anyone. We have a much higher potential than most college teams.

Problem is, we also have the real-world ability to lose to anyone. You also have to worry about playing a fast tempo and returning in 2 days; with the depth issue we would be in trouble.

A 10 seed would be great.

Jeez, it's "should've" not "should of". That shite drives me nuts.

But back to substance, Final Four? Really?

Look, I've been a Tiger fan for decades, but you're being WAY too optimistic. Sure, we can play with anybody in a particular game, but you've got to win multiple games against very good competition to get that far. The odds aren't zero, but they're very low.

We've been playing better lately, but we still have all the same issues.
